Can the Bible be trusted?

Most Christians would take the Bible to be the Word of God. But was an almighty devine being writing through man when the Bible was wrote? There are several factors to consider when answering this question, including the fact that even if God told man what to write down, it was man who wrote it; also the Bible has been translated several times, and often under great preassure, which can make the translation less accurate; and, an undeniable fact, the Bible does contradict itself.

Since Moses, the Bible was pened by man. Even though they were supposedly men of God, every man has certain characteristics, such as changing things to make them more interesting, dramatic, or to make things seem to be things thier not. Did Moses really go up the mountain to recieve the 10 Commandments from God? Or did he go up the mountain and form the tablets himself? Since the freed Hebrews started to worship "idol" gods, interest was lost in the god of Moses. This means that Moses would have less control of them.

The story of Daniel is another story that likly contains lies. Like all the other books of the Bible, this one was also edited to fit the Churches desires. It could be possible that since Daniel was captured at a yound age, he converted to the Babylonian beliefes. His life went on, but instead of worshiping the Hebrew god, he worshiped Babylonian gods. When this story was found, it is possible that someone wanted to make the Hebrew captive appear to be more faithful to the Hebrew god, and changed many things of the story, and added other events, such as Daniel being cast into the lions den. This would add to the power that the early church had.

It is a well known fact that the Bible was translated several times before it finally was wrote in English. One thing you know if you have done any translating, its not going to be 100% accurate, and older languages, or complex ones, require some guessing at certain words. Yes, thier are some easy translations, such as Modern French to Modern English, But the Bible went from being several ancient languages, into one language that became ancient, then translated to another language, then to Latin, then to Middle English. But when the Middle English translation was made, it was against the will of the Roman Catholic Church, who knew if the common man could read the Bible, thier power and control would weaken. So the English edition was very secretive, and made under extreme stress. The stress would have made the translation even less accurate.

One thing that many Christians wont admit to, but it is true, is that the Bible contradicts itself, and some widly held believes, such as the Rapture, arent mentioned in the Bible.

The Rapture is the concept that Gods people will be removed from this earth prior to, during, or after the 7 year Tribulation. The thing is, this concept was never around until the 1800s. This also is strong evidence to show that even the Bible changes with time.

One of the several Biblical Contradictions is the fact that being gay, and having sex with the same gender, is sin. Yet in Second Kings, David slept with his brother. Another contradiction is that witchcraft is wrong, but God made man not only in his image, but also in his likness, meaning God made man to be god-like. To simply describe witchcraft, it is calling upon the aid of energy forces, and the aid of a god. So since witchcraft is calling upon the aid of a god, how is this wrong when a practicing witch is Christian, and is calling upon the aid of the Christian God?

Another contradiction is the fact that the god of the Old Testament was full of wraith, and vengeful, eye for and eye, tooth for a tooth. But Jesus the son of the Old Testament, is loving and forgiving. Also note, that even though Jesus taught to love and forgive, and to judge not, he did drive away the merchants from the temple, rather than preaching his normal sermons.

Im not sure if this is a condradiction, but another fact to show the Bible might not be a sacred book, is the fact that women are treatly very bad, and the Bible is very sexist. It was woman that was originally decieved, leading to the fall of man. It was a woman that looked back, and was turned into a pillar of salt. Thier is not 1 female angel mentioned in the Bible. Women were often treated the same way as slaves were. The woman was created to, basically, be mans slave.

I did not write this with the intention of trying to turn people away from thier current believes, but with the intention of opening up closed minds. I know for a fact that thier are Christians out there who are very narrow minded, and take the Bible's words very seriously.
