Can right wing conservatives be socialists in America

I was in a discussion today where someone said a neo-NAZI who was a member of the "National Socialist Movement" was right wing.

...I find it hard to believe that any right wing conservative person would ever call himself socialist, since increased government controls such as socialism are the antithesis of everything the right wing stands for in America.

Am I right or wrong?

<IMPORTANT> If you did not vote for a right wing candidate in your prospective country, be prepared to be called out for posting in the Conservative Only forum.

Sometimes there are people, like myself, who promote right-wing social values (strong families, gender roles, traditional religious values etc.) paired with socialist economics.

I will try to give an honest answer. Can a standard US right wing conservative be a socialist? No. Can a right wing conservative be a socialist? Well, yes, sort of. So here is the short answer - some right wing conservative ideologies have a collective idea of the people and that the political system/government is a better representative of the people than capitalism, so if you combine these 2, you get a sort of socialism. The free market is not free, because it is secondary to the people.

Hope that helps.

Umm... left, right is economic I think.

So a dictatorship could be left or right. It depends on how much control the government is given over the economy.

Most US politicians seem to favor more economic freedom and a stronger government. Leftist libertarians would be the free-loving folks living in communes.

The NAZI party depends on how much governmental control they had over their economy as to whether they were left or right, IMO.

And in sharp contrast to the modern usage, socialism was conservative then.

Nowadays, it's commonly perceived as "Communism lite". Like their many supporters(including American industrialists like Henry Ford), Nazis considered socialism the conservative view, as opposed to Communism.

Communists were on the Nazi hit list, along with gays and Jews and such.

Modern Nazis aren't much better informed than the OP.

I don't understand what you mean. Putting an R in front of your name does not make you a conservative.

Definition of CLASSIFICATION

Classifications... Titles, degrees, diplomas, certificates, nominations.... These things all work to classify people into groups.

...Trump won the election through the electoral college under the title: Republican. He was the select choice under that classification, by other Conservatives, including Republicans.
