Can one convert to Hinduism?

In the residential schools of Canada, and the Catholic schools in Sri Lankan, the students were assigned Christian names, and then beaten if they didn't use them. So a little 6 year old child calling out to her older brother by his Cree or Tamil name gets beaten for it?

In changing your name in Hinduism, it's done as an adult totally on your own volition, by your choice, because YOU want to. That's why it's called ethical conversion. The other method showed the brutal side of humanity, and not much else. Those kids didn't become Christians, they became scarred forever.
