If you look you will see that the ten commandments were given to Israel and not to the Gentiles. Also, whether Jew or Gentile, no one can keep the law (all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Also Romans says that where there is no law that man is a law unto himself and still falls short).

What the law provided was a definition of what was wrong and a way to make it right (sacrifices). For the Jew and the Gentile Jesus made the sacrifice for all sin. The Old Testament law pointed back to the garden (the beginning of sin for mankind) and forward to the cross (the payment for sin and death, and redemption for all mankind).

So, no we can't keep the Ten Commandments, but breaking one isn't the end of the world.

What she said. That's what I was trying to say and doing a very bad job of it. Must be the Nyquil influence. :p

I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. ICor3:2

Jesus as savior is an Old Testament concept.

your quoting me christian scripture to prove this?
scripture illustrating that he practiced a kosher Diet?

I fail to see the significance of this except that Jesus of Nazareth was an observant Jew.

<Why do the ten commandments get so much attention?>

Because they are not just a list of do's and don'ts, but part of a
Covenant. They describe the covenant relationship between God and us, his
people. God's final Covenant, through Christ, does NOT replace the Mosiac covenant,
it fulfills it. I think we, at times, forget that Jesus was a Jew, who had very little to
do with gentiles but was concerned with the renewal of his own religion which had
    become corrupted.

Quite probably it IS a sin to shoot a man to save 10 people. Violence creates violence. Ghandi achieved quite a bit for India with absolutely no violence at all. BTW - I don't think he was a Christian but he did study the New Testament and was a very large fan of Jesus' teachings (he commented on this often).

Those people who say that sin or breaking Gods 10 commadments isnt a big deal dont seem to realise that its our sin or transgression of those laws that made it nessecary for Jesus to be put to death on the Cross (if we were to be spared of Gods punishment). If you ever need a reminder of how seriously God takes sin just imagine Jesus on the Cross or people in Hell. If God didnt take our sin so seriously then why come to earth and go through what he did?

Just which of the 10 commandments would you say is ok to break? Ask yourself.
    Let your conscience tell you,
is it ok to Lie? is it ok if somone lies to you?
how bout Steal? what if someone steals from you?
Murder? how bout someone murder's you?
Adultery? what if someone just sleeps with your wife?
Covet? should we be satisfied with what we have or continually and selfishly want more?
is Blasphemy ok? is it ok to use Gods name to express disgust, the God who gave u life?
Honor your father and your mother? is it ok for your children to dishonor you and rebel for no reason.
how bout disregarding Sabbath Day? God gave you life! is it such a struggle to give him one day out of 7?
should you make for yourself an idol. Is it ok to worship false gods?
should you put other gods before the real God?

God does things for a reason, he didnt just give us the 10 suggestions, It's a standard that God took the time to write in stone.

When a christian says "im no longer under the law", i dont see how that means they can break the 10 commandments if they feel like it. God dosnt change and i doubt he likes people who call themselves christian lying stealing etc. Dont toy with what you know is wrong, God knows if you take what he did for you seriously.
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48

Now having said all that i am by no means implying that we can earn our way to heaven via our good works. We cant get there by satisfying the law. Who of us can claim to have kept every commandment all of the time? Do you really think you are good enough to get to heaven by yourself? The law is given to us to show us our desperate need for Gods grace. Its like a mirror it shows us how filthy we are.
I hope you arnt relying on your own righeousness to get you to heaven. I know i certainly wouldnt get there of my own accord. If you think otherwise consider the following verse's

“You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight. Luke 16:15

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7

Like i said befor the law shows us plainly that we are in desperate need of a saviour.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith - galatians 3:24

If there is anyone out there that wonders why some people can get so excited about Jesus here is your answer, they have probably looked at themselves honestly and realised that they are doomed if they are relying on themselves to get to heaven. Then the Gospel becomes the "good news" that it is!
That we broke the law, Jesus paid our fine!
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. Psalm 32:1-2

Can the 10 Commandments ever have an exception without being a "sinner". Explain yes/no. I will start.

#4 Some people work on Sundays. This is in direct violation of this commandment. Are they sinners?

#5 What if your parent was a child molester/killer something like that. If you dislike them does that make you a sinner?

#8 So anyone who shoplifts a thing of tic-tacs is in direct violation of this commandment?

#10 Is it wrong to want something that someone else has badly?

If these violations really do result in punishment from God, I know a ton of people that this will happen to.

Thru 1 man sin came into the world ,and in sin my mother's concieved me
#4 Col 2:16 - 23 says sabbaths are a shadow of things to come and they have an appearance of wisdom... Jesus fulfilled the law
Love the sinner ,if you can and hate the sin
#5 forgive them so your father will forgive you ,Love covers a multitude of sin
#8 Read 1Cor6:9-10 thieves etc.etc. will not inherit the kingdom of God only thru faith in Jesus
#10 Only your conscience and heart can determine that line in the sand of covetousness,if it takes the place of Jesus it is idolatry

The 10 commands or cannons are just a mirror when held to the heart of a person shows their true reflection

Are you implying that when the Gestapo come pounding on my door looking for the Jewish family I am harboring, I should say, "Right this way, Officer. They are upstairs." I mean would'nt lying actually be a good thing there.

And coveting your neighbor's goods is what keeps the economy going!-----George Carlin

Anyway, I feel no law is absolute. I mean Constantine (made Christianity legal) was told in a dream to paint crosses on his shields for battle which no doubt some people were murdered in that fight. Hitler was gotten rid of because of violence which in turn caused him to kill himself.

Ghandi is one of my favorite people of all time and is no doubt worthy of sainthood in my mind, however, I cannot fail to admit that violence in the past has allowed my birth and some good things.
