Can a literal Genesis creation story really hold up?

That is an interesting perspective that I have not considered. I will certainly take that into consideration. It certainly makes sense. But then, so does how I was interpreting it.

Not to the point, but consider the words, "heavenly bodies" How do you take that?

"There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another."
1 Corinthians 15:40)

The KJV uses the words "celestial bodies"

This flesh is a miracle.
Spirit contained and formed in substance.

What stands from the dust may also be a miracle.
A spirit of grace and wisdom.
If not...the angels with sword in hand will guard the peace of heaven.

You will be assimilated; it is His Will.
Not only does it ruin the book, it turns the book into lies.

It is better just to go with the reality of legends, poems, songs, mythology, allegory and metaphor and pseudo history to teach morals and lessons, then to ruin it trying to make things happen in the past that never did.

It is not turned into lies. It only for a certain group of people. It tells you that within the pages of the book you speak of.

It is literal to those who understand what it speaks of. I don't know of any other subject where, not knowing, is seen as being correct

Grown adults believing in angels with swords in their hands !
Guarding the sanctity of an unknown dwelling whose gates are already locked !
I kind of get the captured spirit occupying the human substance,
but the trip into the escape from wisdom leaves me cold, as death would be, I guess.
I guess I don't understand that explanation of what a miracle is.

Got a grip on life after death?
Got expectations?

I figure there is Something Greater than myself.
It would be a good thing if that Something prefers peace.

So..........peace first.
and if I want to live in peace....I should....
Do unto others as I would have them do unto me.

Life after death and there is no heaven?
Life after death and that Something Greater is not in charge?

That would be chaos.
No peace.

or maybe you think it better to be .....mud?

When Jesus spoke of knowledge and wisdom, he certainly never, ever conceptualized turning one's back on hard evidence. He knew the difference between history and allegory. He never intended faith as a substitute for knowledge. Get a grip, people!

I don't think we can ever know what Jesus knows or think he knows about "knowledge","hard evidence" or "history", because he had never supplied us with any, except what is written about him in the 4 gospels.

And the 4 gospels never show of Jesus speaking of following history or hard evidence.
