I relate to that, while languishing in hospital my mobile phone was my clock and contact with the world. Now i am back home it sits on the shelf on charge next to my car keys.

The two landlines are adequate, except that I cannot get a hold of my husband when he is sleeping while I am at work, because there is no phone in the bedroom, since the cable jack does not work anymore and the cable company does not fix those anymore.
They say that eventually they will phase out landlines, it's coming. At least our cells work at home, in our older house in the country we had no cell service.
