Maybe Governor Newsom will want to agree with the President to keep those illegal drugs out of his State so he can institute more pie-in-the-sky ideas with the increased tax revenue.

Over taxation appears to be their problem. Pot is legal in my state and it started out and always was more expensive than illegal pot. That is why there are still sales of illegal pot here. You would think that writers of the laws would have at least some knowledge of economics.

Illegal drugs tend to come over the border through border check stations. A wall would not do any good. States looked at marijuana as a cash cow. They got a bit greedy. What they should have done was had a very low tax rate to start with and then raised it over the years. They in effect subsidized the illegal market by making personal possession legal but making it overly expensive to buy legal pot.

Yeah but that was their major idea (idea not for public consumption), legalize pot, tax it and increase tax revenue.
Oops, seems like the illegal pot suppliers are taking their cue from moonshiners.
And the illegal pot suppliers are 1000000 times more organized than moonshiners.

That's my feeling on it. Why go for high-priced product at the store when you can get it at a much lower cost from that guy down the street.

Apparently people don't understand the difference between street dirt weed and A+ strains. In reality the "weed stores" are selling at a lower price than the "street" sellers. But most people would prefer cheap garbage than quality product. The average price nationwide of something like Bubba Kush is about $18/ gram at weed stores and is still $20/gram on the underground market. Although most of the underground people have been being forced to lower their prices of late to keep up with the competition.

Easy start executing illegal pot sellers by public hangings.;)

I do not condone the sale of recreational pot. There has not been a large and long enough study to determine the effect on those using pot (increased potency of THC in today's pot) as a "recreational" product. Pot is physiological addictive.
Therefore I do not agree with your above statement.

When you buy it legally, you know exactly what THC content you are getting, and can therefore choose the one you prefer. When you buy it illegally, you know practically nothing about it.

Do you really think that the average pot buyer has any idea what the THC value of a product means. Also are you sure that the THC value listed on the product in all legalized states (if any)? Also the THC varies widely from lab to lab.

    Many things are psychologically addictive.

    Smoking, drinking...

    Even eating and sex.

So do we ban it all?

When one buys moonshine one runs into the same problem. Plus with moonshine there might be just a little methanol mixed in. There is a small amount of methanol in grain alcohol, with moonshine that amount can rise to dangerous levels. It is much more controlled when buying legal alcohol:

Defining a tolerable concentration of methanol in alcoholic drinks. - PubMed - NCBI

One may not be running the same risks with illegal pot, but as you said one can control one's high better with legal weed.

Me I tried it a few times in college (a long long time ago) and did not like the effects on me. I still voted for legalization in my state when it was on the ballot and even though it passed I have no desire to use it myself. At the same time I have no desire to tell others that they cannot use pot.

Do you condone the sale of alcohol, which has proven to be significantly more addictive, unhealthy, and destructive?

Yes, I do think the average pot buyer has an idea about what THC is.

I live in Canada. I can walk into a store, ask what the THC (and CBD) content is, and get exactly what I want.
I can also order it online in the exact same way. The bottle has all the information printed directly on it. Like a regular prescription. I've ordered cookies and tea in the exact same way.

I can't get any of this from a black market dealer. I can't even be sure it isn't cut with something.

If you're concerned about high THC content, you should support legalization, because it allows the buyer to make informed choices rather than blindly buying whatever the guy on the street corner has in his pocket.

    Exactly!

    Freedom is a wonderful thing!

I've actually been using CBD in various different forms to manage my migraines. So far, it's the only thing that helps me at all, in that department.
