At odds of one case out of one hundred thousand it is still far better to take the vaccine than to risk going without. But I won't blame someone if they go with either Pfizer or Moderna.

I had my first shot yesterday. I did not choose based upon the vaccine offered. I took the first one available. For me it was obviously not J & J since I said "first shot". The place where I went was using Moderna.

I may be scarred for life. I find the key arm movement to be a bit stiff when I do the Chicken Dance:

I'm not saying don't get vaccinated. Its a choice only the person their self should make.

More than that, it is now known that there's a very simple blood test taken within 7 days of the shot that can determine the likelihood that VITT is occuring, and can then be dealt with.

I have had dose 1 of the A-Z (same technology, same risk) -- and I am looking forward to my second one so that I am fully vaccinated. I understand what I'm doing, what the risks are, how to mitigate them -- and hey, knowledge is power, right?

But some will take the greater risk of not being
vaccinated just because a few per million will
    have some blood clots.

I think its more of being there are side effects already, what could happen further down the road.

They'd probably discontinue it since they paused it already. It does say something when they take those few into an account seriously though. Here's more info about it. Not particular to the link. Learn About Venous Thromboembolism (Blood Clots) | CDC and HAN Archive - 00442 | Health Alert Network (HAN)

How come you did not get it sooner, haven't you been in the eligible age group for quite a while?

The same question applies to Covid, which has its
own long term effects, eg, death, neurological.

Some people I know choose to fear vaccines over
the plague, but it's based upon whim rather than
    risk analysis.

I kept trying to register on line, but kept failing. I constantly ran into "No appointments available". Then I remember the Kaiser Permanente had a phone number for Covid19 vaccines. I thought that I would be on the phone for over an hour, but it was very very fast. Ten minutes at the most.

Then I went in for my vaccine. Again, very very fast. I had to fill in a very short form, got my shot. And then you have to wait 15 minutes to see if there is a reaction. That was the longest part of the entire procedure.

And I am automatically registered for my second shot. Easy peasy.

    Me too. I was impressed.

Now if they could fix the online registration we might see a bump in the number being vaccinated.

We know what happens if you don't get vaccinated. The estimates are 900,000 NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND Americans have died from COVID.

We know what vaccines can do which is basically prevent death and serious illness.

The fear mongering objection should be universally applied to ALL technology and ALL medicine because we don't KNOW 100% of what might happen.

We took the polio vaccine even in spite of the KNOWN risk of getting polio from it. The odds were very much in favor of getting vaccinated and no one wanted to risk being in an iron lung for the rest of their lives.

Not to minimize the situation but the number of deaths in the United States is not that many.

    Total Reported
    Cases 32,218,737
    Deaths 576,327

US COVID-19 cases and deaths by state

It also should be noted the vaccine is not FDA approved. It's still experimental.
