Burning Bibles (and other taboos)

I'm not going to debate, but you were talking about him continually burning so I assumed you meant for him to extinguish something. With the idea that both burning and extinguishing are forms of destruction.

On the same note, how can a phoenix be reborn if it has no ashes to rise from? The cycle in which a phoenix coincides with is as infinite as the matter in the dimension of existence that it dwells in.

Just like without the water in the ocean, there can be no clouds to block the intensity of the sun.

No im saying he continaly sets the flame anew. Let it burn let it burn good but then let the rain makd the forest grow anew. Its not just my advice but how i understand what satan told him

I see, and I agree.

But he needs the proper space before he can grow, cramp during growth can result in inefficiency :D

An example would be a larger breed of mammal or fish in small and confined space or aquarium.

Also a large tree growing in a small pot, bindings are necessary for structure in the beginning, but as one matures braces will soon become obsolete.

Yep, when one grows they need to move into a new mindset, as the old one is too small.

On the one hand I think destroying things is pointless on the other I can see the symbolic power behind it. Mentally things have power of us whether we like it or not and not everyone is ready to skip to the forgiveness part and let go. Some people need the small steps to get there.

When you think about it a true Christian would immediately forgive you for your actions anyway and hand you the match and bible you need if it helped you. Of course you can probably count true Christians out there on one hand.

Not about Christianity all the time... sometimes it's more personal than that, and sometimes it's just for fun.

How can it ever grow when you constantly set fire to it?

Pretty sure you need to take apart a section of the Lego set before you can build an improved version. Same with taboos and blasphemy, as with all rituals.

Jason is more then a flame ready to wither when nothing fuels it. He is the forest the grows from the fire the phonix that rises from the ashes.

I am Water, Fire, Air, Earth, and Spirit... but it's fire and air's turn, so that water, earth, and spirit can be transformed.

Fire = desire
Air = emotion
earth = mind
water = body
spirit = spirit...

What? I never said anything of the sort. Just he needs to focusing on rising the phonix not making the ashes.

There are no ashes yet.

No im saying he continaly sets the flame anew. Let it burn let it burn good but then let the rain makd the forest grow anew. Its not just my advice but how i understand what satan told him

If you notice... I tend to go in cycles of focusing from upbeat to dark. Most recently it was pink...before that it was machetes... and before that it was humor... and before that? I forget but it was kind of edgy.

-------------------------

Anyone done anything "blasphemous" lately? I watched a porno directed by two CoS members (a couple), where they actually did more or less a Black Mass. Fairly interesting... there was both blasphemy and renunciation in it... as well as much taboo. I found it a nice mental experience to watch... but I realized that the only really taboo thing about it was one thing I wasn't particularly against, but was somewhat averted to seeing.

Sad, after a while... there are no more taboos to explore, and you can't learn more about your way that =( ............ or can you?

I'm on a streak of about two or three months.

I have no idea what this means, but I want to know how you feel how this impacted your development as a Satanist in attempt to push this topic more towards the correct direction.

It means I haven't been productive for the last couple of months, which I see as being blasphemous considering my situation (I'm pretty sure we talked about this though).

Its definitely motivated me to strengthen some aspects of my life, but it hasn't really resulted in me overcoming my inefficiency. I don't really see it as necessary because the only one benefiting from it is me, and personally I don't really feel like its truly benefiting me.

But basically because of that, I can do things like post here and try to further an understanding that may or may not be conclusive with what I actually want to do with my life.

I should note that I don't see burning bibles or imploring the various energies around us (even the harmful ones) as being blasphemous.

Blasphemy is self afflicting, it shares similar position with how I view the "devil worshipper", and things of that nature.

I find that slashing, stabbing, ripping apart Bibles is cathartic. Then I burn them to symbolize the destruction of the emotions attached to what it represents.

In Satanism (my religion):

Source: Blasphemy, catharsis, and self-initiation
Breaking taboos can indeed be cathartic and therapeutic for the reasons given above. It has played a part in my personal and spiritual development. However, the aim of such activities can be seen in two ways. Firstly as in breaking down a door which, once forced open, does not need to be opened again. Secondly in a more Eastern sense, the key is never to lose your true self no matter how debased the activity you are involved in. In both the aspects the overall goal is personal spiritual development.

However, the need to constantly break taboos can also be signs of something similar to addiction. The breaking of a taboo can give a person a rush which is similar in many ways to the rush associated with some drugs. I speak from experience of both.
So one needs to be sure why one is doing a thing. The clue is spiritual growth. If you can honestly say you have grown as a person by breaking a particular taboo, then it was a good thing to do and you don't need to repeat it.
If on the other hand if when you are very honest with yourself you feel that there hasn't been any real personal growth, but that you just enjoy the sensation of breaking the taboo, then it is spiritually worthless and possibly harmful.
As somebody who has had to deal with addiction of both types before I could grow up and move forward, I have to point out the danger here.

Have any of you ever blasphemed something, and is breaking taboos part of your religion? What about renouncing former beliefs when being converted? Satanism is not the only religion to do this:
I don't blaspheme, I find it pointless. I have already addressed the taboo question.
I haven't really found the need to renounce my former beliefs. I came to Satanism from Paganism not Christianity so I don't have the antagonism to Christianity that some Satanists do. I still consider myself Pagan as much as I do Satanist. I have explored many religions and philosophies and have found wisdom in all of them. I think it would be stupid to "renounce" lessons I have learned from other paths. Moreover I don't think Satan would want me to do that. Satan represents intelligence and the power of knowledge. Renouncing everything that comes from other traditions is like burning books or libraries; it is an insult to the pursuit of knowledge.

Ok Jason you asked for my input so here we go ;)

I don't hold books as sacred, I'm not offended by people burning them and I have no problem with blasphemy rituals.

However... I don't see a need to perform multiple blasphemy rituals. Ideally the ritual should be to rid yourself of emotional investment in whatever your target is (In your case Christianity/The Bible). As such you should no longer feel cathartic about burning a Bible, you should instead feel indifferent.
I would recommend introspection regarding your views and feelings about Christianity and decide what exactly you want to be rid of. It's all too easy to blame things you aren't happy with about your life on something else and thus fail to deal with the real problem.

Just my two cents.

While I don't think burning bibles and other religious texts as sacrilegious, I do think it may be a bit disrespectful to those other faiths. I try to have respect for other people's faiths. But I suppose if one has anger towards something, this may help displace that anger that might have been used on another person.

Of course I don't believe in burning any kind of book.

Well in from the very few times I have burnt Bibles, I have found that successively I am more and more indifferent towards the act emotionally every time.
