Recently someone here mistook me for a woman...

I don't know if there are any people out there who think I'm female

This post is to inform people that I am indeed a man

I understand the confusion

It is a unisex name

There are plenty of manly men named Eddi:

EDDI - Wikipedia

Such as a boxer, a fencer, a professional footballer…

(…and a cabaret artist but that is not a manly occupation…)

It all began at University

I wanted to go by Ed but people insisted on calling me “Eddi with an I”

Hence I became Eddi

They had their reasons, I'm sure...

But I don’t mind being mistaken for a woman, not at all

Not that it ever happens not on the Internet:

In person I’m 6 foot 2 and big and hairy…

And going bald…

I'll never forget once when I was a (pre-pubescent) kid at primary school

At school the staff had hired a children's entertainer (I cannot remember why)

And the entertainer picked me out of all the kids who were watching his act

And asked me if I was a boy or a girl

He picked on me and actually asked me that

How insensitive!

At school I never liked football either, in fact I actually disliked it - both playing it and following it: BORING!

As a person I am not a manly man

But I am certainly a man, let it be known

Not that there's anything wrong with being a woman

I'm not at all manly but neither am I feminine

I don't believe a lack of masculinity equates to being feminine

Basically: I wouldn't say I'm masculine but I nonetheless identify as male!

So yeah, I'm a dude...

I hope this sets the record straight

I recall when I moved to a new town in the middle of the 4th grade, the substitute teacher at the school said in front of the whole class on my first day there. "We saw a new student was starting today named Keith. We didn't know if you were going to be a boy or a girl". The whole class erupted in laughter, and thus began my new hell in a new town. What a total moron on several accounts! Keith is a boy's name, always.

So, I get it. ;)

I bet the confusion comes from the butterfly avatar. Our culture for some reason associates butterflies with females, most likely because we have been stuck with the stereotype of men needing macho symbols like guns and beer.

(If they only knew butterflies will drink blood!)

That could have been me. Sorry if I was accidentally annoying.
I try to be very deliberate about that.

So, you're 6'2", hairy, and balding.
You sound really hot. I won't make that mistake again.

I have a friend

He can be quite ignorant

He used to think (as an adult) that all cats were female and all dogs male

We've always had girl dogs. When we had cats,we preferred male cats. That's utterly sexist, of course.
It is entirely sexist but I agree

Male cats are better than female cats
Female dogs are better than male dogs

I don't like how you can see the reproductive organs of male dogs, that really puts me off them o_O

Fortunately with male cats their reproductive organs are not visible

Maybe I'm just prudish

I don't mind the visibility. The leg lifting of guests in our house to water our walls is another matter.

Smh, it's crazy the way the world is. I too have been mistook as female on here before.
