British Values

Before WW2 antisemitism was normal in the UK. Now it is looked down upon. Values change.

Jewish refugees were quite rightly welcomed into the UK when Hitler gained power.

Are you seriously saying that the Labour Party is looking down upon anti-Semitism?

Not by a majority nor government. The UK rejected 1938 Evian Conference and restricted immigration then stopped the to the Mandate of Palestine. I do not think any nation can pat itself on the back regarding it's conduct towards Jews before the war. Perhaps individuals but at the nation-state level it is just different levels of failure.

The groups that supports Jews are the ones you are against. Socialists and Communists. Both being one of if not the only egalitarians ideologies at the time. No Western nation was egalitarian at the time in reality regardless of what their propaganda claimed.

I was never commenting on the Labour party for or against.

Where would the Jews be now without the British Churchillian spirit?

What’s not to like?

I wish I could vote for them and their policies.
What's not to like !!!!!!!
His immigration policy makes no sense; he's on the Sun website; he's backed by millionaires and foreigners; Wants to privatise the NHS, he's using EU laws to fight his legal battles... not much right if I'm honest.

"British values used to be the yardstick of freedom" Then why was it an empire that colonized other countries and oppressed other people around the world? Maybe it became that yardstick later?

NAN has no idea what british values are, several people have queried him on his assertion and he has never been able to provide anything other than personal opinion in defence of British values?

Yes. I don't want to beat up on him too much though. I think he is seeing the deteriorization of things in his society that are troubling to him.And his concerns may be legitimate.

I think he is dreaming ideas of society that are not represented in reality. Or if they are, its a very small, select society that is in opposition to the consensus.

The UK’s ancestry should be acknowledged for introducing British values into parts of the world like Hong Kong.

I bet they wish we were still there.

Not many places like Hong Kong, most had British values rammed down their throats at the point of a gun

And i know several people in HK, Brits and Chinese, they still love it, the Brits would not return to the UK, life is far more to their linking where they are.

It is what was known as tough love.

They must have been indoctrinated. Communists are good at that, but I doubt that things are going to improve under Chinese rule with their values.
