British students try biscuits for the first time:

Omg right?!!!
I legit hate the regular KFC here. As in the chicken cooked with their “11 herbs and spices” or whatever it is. (Though that might be more to do with my curry heritage lol)
Prefer an outlet here we have called Red Rooster’s
Which is actually just normal roast chicken, with various applications of the recipe (burger, sub etc)
Weirdly they’ve begun to emulate KFC recipes lately. But whatever

I do actually like the spicy variants of KFC recipes. Particularly when hungover lol

Granted I’m not sure how much variation there actually is between our countries. I just know US food safety standards are considered extremely lax in comparison to like everyone else lol
I would not know about that. One would have to be in the restaurant business to really know. I have no idea what the standards are here or elsewhere.

Don't worry, I will send you some Chips Ahoy! That should really confuse you.

I think the differences are mostly in the size variants/portions and that there actually are some ingredients used in the US that are banned in many other countries. Including mine

I will say I gained weight very quickly when I visited fam in the US lol
Though in fairness that was mostly because I wanted to try all the different fast food and local diners. Since we don’t have that kind of thing here. At least not to that level

I have seen some foreign food ingredients that were banned here too. For example I was talking about curries here on a thread and mustard oil was mentioned as an ingredient. I has never heard of it. In the US it is deemed unsafe for some reason.

But I love trying new foods too. Then it is interesting to see if I can reproduce them at home.

I’m not educated enough on the specifics.
But some are kind of odd,
Some are due to lobbying of rich companies mostly (and indeed that is true of some of the ingredients allowed in the US but not elsewhere)
And some just seem dumb and arbitrary in all honesty

I know that food genetically modified organisms are banned in much of Europe. But they do not seem to have very good reasons for doing that. And the ban on mustard oil seemed a bit picky to me.

I think there’s also an addictive quality found in many food substances that effectively gets them banned automatically in other countries (including mine) but not the US.
Due to lobbying mostly, I would assume but I don’t know that for certain. Just seems like a reasonable conclusion in all honesty lol

Do you have any examples? Unfortunately we can't get original Coca Cola any longer.

EDIT: Poppy seeds maybe? A poppy seed muffin can cause a person to fail a urinalysis test.

I have always wondered whether British are into iced tea: because in Summer, here, iced tea is a must. Peach iced tea, and lemon iced tea, to be precise.
I am glad they enjoyed that meal :)

I think that hot tea is not that appreciated, here.

The hotter the weather, the more refreshing is a hot cup of tea. There is an optimum temperature for tea, and it's certainly not iced. Iced coffee is fine though.

We do the opposite. We won't drink espresso unless it's hot, and prefer iced tea. :)

Unfortunately we are often stuck with them. Not too many people have the time to read and analyze every food label.
I feel like we don’t do that here due to a fairly high-ish level of trust in the government to regulate things like food substances.
From what I’ve witnessed that level of trust doesn’t exist in the US. On either side of the political field
Do forgive me if I’m wrong. That’s just the vibe I’ve always gotten
