British Labour Party New Leader

Secret Chief

In just under 12 hours the result will be announced of the leadership elections for the Labour Party.

Apparently it's looking to be Starmer for leader, Rayner for deputy. There's a hard road ahead whoever wins...

Agree, they have been a shambles for a long time now. The problem may be how many Corbynites will get behind Starmer (If he is elected), but we need a strong opposition and we haven't had one for about 10-years.

I suppose the size of the winning margin will determine how much of a personal stamp the winner can apply in their shadow cabinet choices.

There was plenty of opposition to the government that was elected to carry out the will of the people regarding Brexit.

It will be a long time before they are forgiven for that betrayal of trust whoever wins the leadership race.

Is this sub forum "Socialist Only" ?

"This is for Socialist discussion and ideas only. This is not for debate."

Clarification please.

It is the best choice; it is also the choice that the Mail and Murdoch papers didn't want - another good sign.
He looks like a leader, much more like a leader than our current PM.

Oh my, did I say that!

I'd hoped for Murray, simply because Labour need to win Scotland back as much as possible, but Rayner I like. Allin-Khan too, still in A&E.

Not a fan of Rayner then?

It's not her - it's her broad accent that I think might hinder her unfortunately - sorry that such might be the case. Just my suspicions.

I agree such things affect perceptions. I think she is the yin to Starmer's yang; female, northern, left school early // male, metropolitan, lawyer.
