I don't know you. Why would you think you would be important to me?

I shouldn't bore you with nonsense? Oh, you thought I was supposed to act like you knew more than I did about the universe. Sorry, but you didn't put in the time and effort to learn the correct information.

I should lighten up? Oh, too much information for you. You want simple answers, a more primitive response. How about this, the ignorant and unclean humans used to exchange spit when they met. They hadn't thought of just shaking hands. How's that for a primitive response?

Is there anything that is important to God? Depends on your definition of important. To God all things are all equal in value but that does not mean that all things are eternal.

There's no historical evidence for Babylonian captivity of the Jews? There is no historical evidence for a lot of things but they still happened.

The bible claims that Nebuchadnezzar ll destroyed Tyre and became King of Egypt, but he never did? One of the main problems with the bible is that there is some truth mixed in with misinterpretation, there are many mistakes, and there is bravado written in by Jews to make themselves feel superior, and there are temple policy books that were never meant to be taken as the word of God, and there are some outright lies.

But, everything in the bible is not wrong. If you are going to throw the baby out with the bath water then all science is wrong as well.

Alexander the Great destroyed the City of Tyre ( Jericho ) and upon entering Egypt was crowned King of Egypt, that happened, thus there is some historical truth.

    Ezekiel 26 ( Alexander's Siege of Tyre )
Many nations would come against Tyre
The walls of Tyre would be broken down
Dust would be scraped from her, and she would be left like a bare rock
Tyre would be a place for the spreading of nets
Alexander, would build a siege wall around Tyre
    Alexander would plunder the city
The stones, timber and soil of Tyre would be cast into the sea
The city would never be rebuilt

I bow to the proverb, never pick a fight with stupidity, it will always win.

BTW, it was you that brought up God and what it might not consider as important, I was just wondering if you know that then maybe you might know what God might think of as important but I now see that focus is not your strong suit.

Everything is stupid to you, and everyone. They have to be stupid in order for you to feel superior, but what have you done, where have you been? Anything important? Teach me something important that I don't know. Just one thing. I'll wait...

It was I that brought up God? You do realize this is a Religious Forum and this is the Religious Debates section and the topic is "Born Again", don't you?

I can't imagine that you thought you would escape comments from religious people on a religious debate thread. Frankly I believe it is difficult to envision the term outside of religious views. BTW the "so called" slur was uncalled for and not merited.

I believe consciousness comes with maturity. I would not call it a rebirth but more likely an awakening as the Buddhists like to say.

I don't believe I can understand how you would even contemplate that it is magic.

I'll stand behind my words "so called" till I find a believer that puts their belief ahead of themselves. Consciousness comes with maturity, I don't see the connection, Consciousness is awareness, maturity is measured by the inclusiveness of one behavior. You probably should be more aware of the Buddhists with which you converse.

I can't believe you can't understand what I meant by my last sentence (in the original post).

I believe you have found one in me.

Granted that the two are often equated but i like the etymology: Locke defined consciousness as "the perception of what passes in a man's own mind" Wikipedia

This perception grows as a person matures.

I believe I understand what you mean but it is just the idea that you envision other people seeing it as magic that i believe you are inferring and although there are many people who might fall in that category I don't believe you give reiigious debaters enough credit to know better.

    I hope I have.

Look Muffled, it wasn't my intention to touch you when I wrote of those that might think in terms of magic/mystical, I am curious though why it bothered you when you had a pretty good idea of who I might have been referring. It is my belief that there are a great many people who know better but they don't see it as their responsibility (a form of loving one another) to put forth, not push another thought so that they have more options

First to understand what it means to be born again.
A person first would have to understand and knowledge of the First earth age.

What happened back there, that brought all people to be here in this second earth age.

The First earth age is where the dinosaurs bones came from. In the bible ( Scriptures)
Explains what happened back there and why God destroyed that first earth age.

It's all there within the pages of the bible
( Scriptures ) all about the world that then was and what caused God to destroy that world.

Back during the first earth age, we all were spirit beings, Then when God destroyed that first earth age.
God brought us to be born of a woman, that when a woman's water breaks the child is born thru that water, being born of the water.

And then as the child grows up and to read the word of God the child becomes born of the Spirit of God.
1 Peter 1:23--"Being born again, not of Corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
By the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever"

Therefore you have being Born again of the water and of the Spirit.

Cities get sieged all the time. Which city in the ancient world has not been sieged and plundered at least once.
And your information is incorrect. City of Tyre continued to be big and prosperous throughout Roman and Islamic times and is today the fourth largest city of Lebanon.

Tyre was the capital city of the Phoenicians, the fall of Tyre would have send shock waves throughout the Phoenician world, but one must not forget that Hebrew = Phoenician , the language of the Old Testament.

The major clue that the Fall of Jericho is the Fall of Tyre is Deuteronomy 34:3.

    Deu 34:3
And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees

In Gk, it is ' πόλιν φοινίκων' ( City of the Phoenicians ) .

    Jdg 1:16
And the children of the Kenite (Phoenicians) , Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees ( City of the Phoenicians)

    Kenite (קֵינִי ) derives from Qanan ( קָנַן ) or Qen (קֵן )

    Job 29:18
Then I said, I shall die in my nest ( Qen )

In the Septuagint version of Job 39:18 it
reads ' εἶπα δέ ἡ ἡλικία μου γηράσει ὥσπερ στέλεχος φοίνικος '

Phoenix is the Gk translation of 'קֵן
    Kenite = Pheonicians

The Torah also stresses this in Numbers 24:21

    Num 24:21
And he looked on the Kenites (Phoenicians) , and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwelling place, and thou puttest thy nest (קֵן ) in a rock

Cain ( קַיִן ) is a patronymic form of Phoenician, as well as Kenan (קֵינָן ) in Gen 5:6
