Bohemianism - What's this mean?

The Sum of Awe

Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
Today a random word popped into my head (this happens a lot, sometimes made up words) and the world was "Bohemian" I asked my friend what a Bohemian was and he said some kind of religion. So I decided to ask you guys.

I googled it too, I didn't read the wikipedia (as I'm too lazy like that) but there was one article called Bohemianism so...

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Bohemianism :

Bohemianism is the practice of an unconventional lifestyle, often in the company of like-minded people, with few permanent ties, involving musical, artistic or literary pursuits. In this context, Bohemians can be wanderers, adventurers, or vagabonds.
This use of the word bohemian first appeared in the English language in the 19th century[1] to describe the non-traditional lifestyles of marginalized and impoverished artists, writers, journalists, musicians, and actors in major European cities. Bohemians were associated with unorthodox or anti-establishment political or social viewpoints, which were often expressed through free love, frugality and — in some cases — voluntary poverty. A wealthy and privileged, even aristocratic, bohemian circle is sometimes referred to as the haut bohème ("high bohemians").
The term Bohemianism emerged in France in the early 19th century when artists and creators began to concentrate in the lower-rent, lower class gypsy neighborhoods. Bohémien was a common term for the Romani people of France, who had reached Western Europe via Bohemia.[2]

Even at the risk of this post getting deleted soon: Bohemianism isn't a religion, it's a stance on life. :D

Very true, but in the past has included people with strange beliefs.

There are very few "Bohemians today. whereas they were mostly educated, artist and literate though poor and lived an alternate life style. The modern "Drop out" or "beatnick" hardly meets that standard.

True. I think pure Bohemianism is something that was tied only to a certain era and wasn't able to go on outside it, in similar ways like dandyism and decadence were very much dependant on the society they were formed in.
