Because I dont need to be told.
I kind of prefer that I be "tolerated"
for not being a blue eyed blonde,
and am disinclined to pick on
anyone for not being like me.

You're a good bit older than primary school age, I'm guessing. So obviously these lessons wouldn't apply to you. Something to consider is that parents in conservative religious households will be making efforts to ensure their kids grow up thinking homosexuality is sinful/unnatural/not deserving of tolerance. This needs to be countered etc

I suspect the parents are protesting because these lessons are being given to their kids before the parents are ready to have them indoctrinated in 'gays are icky' nonsense.

Most, if not all, schools in the UK do a 'parents' evening' explaining what they are proposing to teach.
The UK is non-homophobic; religions have to learn this.

Parents who think 'gay is icky' are dinosaurs

Any idea if this happened in the school in question?

In the case of Parkfield Primary, they probably had at least one parents night in the four years that No Outsiders has been taught without incident prior to the recent Islamist fuss.

Is the parents night national policy or decided by individual schools? There is nothing like this in Canada.

I'm not sure how it is down in England. Actually I'm not even sure how it is up here in Scotland either. I don't have children so I'm not best-placed to answer.

No, but it is good practice when teaching what can be perceived as controversial subjects.

Sure. However without it being a government policy it becomes easier to fight in court. This is why I asked.
