Biden's Policies Hurting Small Businesses

Freedom from Sanity
It always cracks me up when people argue that capitalist businesses are these selfless operations that hire people out of the good of their hearts, and not because there is literally no other way to get the job done. If capitalist businesses could buy machines to do the same jobs as people do these days, they would - and that has been in fact their goal since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. People being employed is a fortunate side effect of capitalism, but never an actual goal that any capitalist would be working towards. In capitalist societies, substantial unemployment is a feature, not a bug in the system.

There's a post going around on Facebook that reminded me of this thread:

These whiny, "Nobody wants to work!" signs on every restaurant door and cash register showcase four important features of the bourgeoisie:

1. Their love of the free market vanishes as soon as basic market forces like supply and demand tip to benefit workers, even briefly. "Competition breeds innovation," until they have to offer competitive wages.

2. When the going gets tough, they roll up their sleeves and blame somebody else for their failure. Then they hop on facebook to complain about nobody taking personal responsibility anymore.

3. Despite self-mythologizing constantly, they have no work ethic at all. They'd rather close the doors than flip the burgers themselves.

4. They aren't even competent at MS Word. Listen: If you print outward-facing signage in 14-point Times New Roman on plain printer paper and hang it up lopsided on one piece of scotch tape, you better pray Atlas don't Shrug. You won't make it.
