Biblical Slavery - How Could A Loving God Condone It?

Kidnapping anyone and then selling them was punishable by death in ancient Israel-

Kidnappers must be put to death, whether they are caught in possession of their victims or have already sold them as slaves. -Exodus 21:16

In a similar manner, Christianity also condemns slavery-

We know that the law is good when used correctly. For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders.

The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God. -1 Timothy 1 :8-10

Given the reality that slaves were always kidnapped or the children of kidnapping victims, exactly why, then, do Anti-Christians continue to confuse the consensual program of personal debt settlement utilized in ancient Israel with slavery?

I ask my white Christian friends how their forefathers justified it using their scriptures

While you're at it ask them where they bought them, and then where those people got them.

Before anyone uses the “the sold them in Africa too” argument. Tribes act different than colonist when it came to slave trade. No tribes held auctions or biding. What was ironic is slavery in Africa was what we call indentured servitude in America. But funny because historians (European historians) will not study African diaspora so they assumed tribes sold to merchants. Funny that wealthy African dignitaries sold to European merchants not simple tribes as is what is taught online.

But unfortunately the king of Portugal have influenced his troops that Africans were meant to be in servitude

I think you have that backwards and are cherry picking scripture. Those that point out the evils of slavery in the Bible look at all of the verses. For example:

:
Leviticus 25:44-46 New International Version (NIV)
44 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

Slavery of fellow Hebrews was to be moderated. That does not appear to be the case of slaves from other cultures. I have seen apologists use the weak excuse that slavery was not based upon race, as if that made it any better. Treating any non-Hebrew as fodder for slavery is no different than whites treating blacks as fodder for slavery. They were both evil acts. The problem is that the Bible endorses those evil acts.

Probably with fallacious Cherry Picking?
Not really. That is the flaw of Christians that try to defend the Bible. The abolitionist movement was caused by a general improvement of society's morals that were not based upon the Bible. A complete reading of the Bible, of how it was fine to enslave outsiders, was used by pro-slavery arguers. Cherry picking was done by those that only focused on the indentured servitude of fellow Hebrews.

The trade in African slaves is still alive and well in many Islamic countries and the Quran legitimizes the sexual slavery of non-Muslims.

And carrying away any individual against their will was kidnapping which was strictly proscribed in ancient Israel under pain of death.

The only reasons why anyone would offer to be an Israelite's factotum in ancient times was to cure a debt or to stave off the impacts of intense poverty: Exodus 21:7; Leviticus 25; 2 Kings 4:1-7.

And Dawoodi Bohra, ISIS, Al-Qaida, Abu Sayyaf, the Ayatollah, Wahhabis, Tehreek-e-Labbaik, Hezbollah, Hamas, the PLF, Boko Haram, ISIL along with their hundreds of millions of sympathizers would not exist were it not for Islam.

Islam is evil.

You'd think he would have read Leviticus.

In the broader view the Hebrews were not friendly with Gentiles and considered them inferior. Jesus had very little to do with Gentiles.

And yet the Bible had no problem with people being enslaved. When the Bible contradicts itself, which it does time and time again, people tend to follow the parts that they want to believe. Your assumption of poverty is illogical. Nor does it excuse that those slaves became properly. They were slaves for life to be passed on as possessions and the children of slaves were slaves as well if you read the Bible. How do you excuse that? Verses will be provided if you are unaware of this.

A common problem with religious beliefs is one of cognitive dissonance, and this does not apply only to religion. When a belief is shown to be not supported the brain goes through all sorts of contortions to defend those beliefs.

Actually, the law of Moses has many remarkable legal protections for slaves, making it markedly different than the human trafficking seen in the world
