Pope Benedict XVI arrives in Germany amid planned protests - NYPOST.com

It is ironic that the german pope a tin-pot spiritual dictator is giving his speech in the Olympic Stadium, the same place where Hitler (may his name and memory be obliterated) gave his own speeches.

What should we make of the pope's visit?

Had he visited the US people would be out in throngs to shake benedict's hand.

Are germans & europeans in general simply a bit more intelligent than the average American? :angel2:

To the last question: yes. Americans are plagued by a disease called "blind faith". I know this because I am one, and I'm surrounded by people like that all the time.

Why all the pope-hate? He wants to have his voice heard, let him.

Well, one would expect that because of the quality of education in Europe and the superiority of its culture.

However, this education and culture isn't helping either Britain or Germany from being sucked down the financial toilet. Germany is basically financing Greece and Italy, and if they stop, the euro will fail.

Britons have been rioting because college tuition is going up, and will riot again when they have to face real austerity measures.

Any, give those morons the slightest reason to protest and they'll be happy to. Pretending that protesting against a papal visit is somehow more noble is a bit naive.

He's the head of an organization that's engaged in criminal conspiracies, and he's returning to the country where he himself is implicated in activities that are improper at best and illegal at worst.

I'd be inclined to protest his visit, too.
