Belief and Nonbelief

There appear to be some innate functions of the brain that tend to give rise to various forms of religiosity. That is, our species seems have a predilection for at least some forms or kinds of religiosity. While I do not believe these forms include a belief in deity, I think they do include a tendency to believe in spirits, etc that can be seen as a precursors to a belief in deity.

See, for example, agent detection, Theory of Mind, and etiology. Those three innate functions of the brain, perhaps together with several other innate functions, could quite easily account for human predilection to some kinds of religiosity.
