Baptism symbolizes dying to self and coming alive in Jesus, and the Seventh-day Adventists practice believers baptism by full immersion as you cannot baptize infants or children who do not demonstrate knowing consent and moral responsibility. Baptism is a public statement to commit one's life to Jesus and scripture shows, the act of baptism shows that the person has repented of sin and wishes to live a life in Christ.
Acts 8:36-37.
36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
