Baked or roasted Onions?

Stanyon

WWMRD?
Not sure why I never thought of this, I love roasted garlic, baked potatoes, etc. and I love onions but it never occurred to me to bake one until I came across this video from one of my favourite YT channels. For some others this may be something you have done for years and may call it something else but this was new to me, tried it and it is delicious with butter, salt, and a little pepper. Video isn't really necessary as it is about as simple as it get's but I'm posting it anyway- you won't regret it
Just put onion on sheet or pan skin on and bake the same time and temp as you would a potato of the same size

I like to slice them up (along with peppers and root veggies), toss with oil and seasoning, and then slide them into the oven on a cooking sheet.

Thanks, every fall I buy a 50 lb bag of onions. It is a great deal and they last through the winter and then some. But I have onions to spare.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I love onions and sardines together. Makes a great sandwich.

Baked whole onion? I suppose it's always worth a try. I usually like having my onion mixed in with other Foods.

I cut an X in the top of a large onion and plug it with butter and a bullion cube. Wrap it in Saran Wrap and microwave it.

My brother peels them, pours BBQ sauce over them, wraps them in foil, and bakes them.

Do you make French onion soup?
Of course. That is delicious and cheap. Not that hard to make,

I buy the 50 lb bag every year because a local outdoor vegetable shop closes every winter. When they do so they bring in some bulk vegetables. I bought 100 pounds of potatoes and 50 pounds of onions for under $25.00. Not bad since onions are at least a buck a pound at the local Safeway in the winter. At that rate it does not take too long to break even.

That's really clever and frugal..

I really like raw onion slices on hamburgers.
No bacon...no secret sauce...& especially no Sriracha...just a big ole slice of onion.
It's crunchy, & it really enhances my over-cooked dead cow.

I love onion fried or baked, mixed in stews, curries and sauces.

A fave is, i dice up whatever veg is in season. Part cook potatoes, carrots, swede, pumpkin etc

Add a diced red pepper and a few halved (or quartered) tomatoes, an onion or 2 chopped quite chunky. Spread them on a baking tray with a little butter or oil, a sprinkle with mixed herbs or herbes de provence. Bung in the oven until the vegies begin to brown.

I prefer raw, too. Especially over sauteed; not a fan of limp, chewy, slimy onions.

I can see merits for both. My Dad use to love BLOT's bacon lettuce onion and tomato sandwiches. Especially when all of the veggies came from our garden. With my mother baking her own bread at that time the only thing that was made ahead was the mayonnaise. And of course the bacon. And sometimes my father would leave that out. But I love french onion soup and beef liver is quite tasty if prepared properly and served with caramelized onions. On a burger I usually prefer raw, though the picture in the OP looked quite tempting.
