So I thought I would open the discussion to the entire forum....questions about stocks......bonds....other financial instruments.....ask away....

Anyone have any thoughts about the effect of the oil price on the stock market....???

Today the market got hammered.....many believe because of the dropping cost of oil......what do you think.....????

And what about bonds...????....are you buying: short, intermediate or long term bonds...????

I can tell you Alaska is in trouble.

They foolishly set their future budget on higher oil prices.

It's really jumped .... over the last week.
Markets are so volatile because it is so hard to assess knock-on affects of new communications and robotics in commerce, industry and professions.

And as for the retail trade......... that go in any direction.....

I couldn't even guess at a safe trade or profession any more.

I've had extremely good luck with a couple of Oppenheimer mutual stocks over the last decade, especially since they are heavy into foreign investments besides domestic. During the recession, the lowest I was down was 5%, and now I'm up over 30%.
