‘It's time for Victoria to ditch "archaic" blasphemy laws because they favour Christian faiths, a state independent MP says.

Upper House Reason Party MP Fiona Patten will table a bill in parliament on Wednesday to abolish the laws, in line with Queensland, WA, New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom.’

New Zealand is imaginary. You can claim anything you like about their "laws" as they don't exist.

WWMRD?
Blasphemy laws were out dated in the 19th Century; come on Victoria catch-up.

How is it that this omnipresent, all powerful being needs laws to protect it?

Meanwhile in Europe and the UK there are serious efforts to push blasphemy laws for Islam.
Stephen Fry of Ireland was investigated for calling god an "utter maniac" about a year ago.

The attempted tu quoque has been quoqued, in an obvious attempt to derail the thread and preemptively try to make this yet another minority bashfest. Lets see how it plays out...

I live in the UK, there is no such effort to push blasphemy laws for Islam, any such efforts are limited to a radical minority
Ireland is not part of the UK; there was ONE person who complained, it went no further, btw it was 4-years ago

I have a problem with the wording as per "favour". This makes an equal under the law issue not a free speech issue.
