Arm Trans Kids

We Never Know

Yep. Arm kids. That will definitely cut down on violence, gun deaths, be peaceful and solve everything

The sign at a rally says it all. Notice the area's circled in red on the play house and play car.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Haha. I find it hilarious.

Maybe people will start seeing the point that adding more guns to the problem doesn't solve anything. But restrictions on who and what is owned can.
Which takes people with guns to enforce.

I mean my friends have long jokingly said that America simply adds guns to any issues they have.
Didn’t think it would gain actual traction lol
But I guess whatever you gotta do

(I’m joking obviously.)

I'm pretty sure the sentiment is that trans people are currently under threat and need to be protected against violence, and being a little tongue-in-cheek while making a point.

Isn't that what most pro-gun people say owning guns is for?

Republicans reacting to school shootings:
"We need to arm teachers! More guns in schools! More funding to provide armed guards!"

Republicans reacting to the sentiment that we should arm trans kids to protect them from violence:
"Since when has adding more guns to a situation resulted in peace? That's obviously not going to solve anything."

Cognitive dissonance is pretty funny.

I agree so far.
Cognitive dissonance is pretty funny.
That is not cognitive dissonance, it is simple hypocrisy.
Cognitive dissonance occurs only if you are aware of your hypocrisy and it causes you discomfort. For cognitive dissonance you have to have cognition. Please stop misusing that term.

I've never known a gun owner to say "lets arm the kids"

The artillery, minigun and dynamite in a toddler's playhouse suggests that maybe the sign is being facetious.

Then again, I remember the "Kinder guardians" segment from Who is America. I genuinely find it difficult to distinguish serious gun debates from satire sometimes.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

I've never really known anyone to say it. But the point still stands, if adding more guns to the problem isn't the solution, then what exactly has the Republican position BEEN for the last few decades? That they explicitly want to make the problem worse?

The banner is pretty obviously satirising this hypocrisy.

Responsible gun owners aren't the problem. Even if they own multiple guns.
Then problem is guns getting in the wrong hands. Kids hands would be the wrong hands.

I don't think anyone's saying anything contrary to that.

It's satire. I would argue that the position is only marginally more absurd than the "arm teachers" argument.

Either way, it's not exactly something worthy of in depth debate, is it? It's just a humorous, satirical banner? Do you think its intended to be taken seriously?
