Are Even Half Of Cops Honest...Not Corrupt?

We often hear the claim that only a few bad apples make
all cops look bad. But just what constitutes a "bad apple"?
Is it the cop who is on the take, or a thug who beats/kills
civilians? That's prolly not common.
But I say a bad cop is anyone who merely bends the law,
or overlooks it when other cops do. This is a large segment
of the cop population. I daresay that most cops are corrupt.

This occurred to me (again) when watching a video about
how every cop on the scene of another cop who committed
several crimes....
- Lying to the cops.
- Drunk driving.
- Fleeing the scen of an accident.
- Property damage.

The cops who catch him provide every courtesy
that would never be afforded to civilians, who'd
be quickly arrested & jailed...
- Allowing him to keep his hands in his pockets.
- Providing him with a ride home.
- No arrest...not even detainment.
- Offering him legal advice to avoid trouble.

As is so common, when the cop was investigated
by other cops, fellow cops found no wrongdoing.

Hey, you work for an airline you get free or reduced cost travel. You work for a bank you get reduced interest loans. You work for a retail store you get reduced price goods. You work for the police you get reduced accountability for crimes.

Seems pretty straightforward to me. ;)

We should never forget that the expression is “a few bad apples spoil the bunch”. Which by the way is literally true, a bad apple will cause apples near it or in contact with it to spoil.

And it is metaphorical true with the police. A few bad cops will spread their corruption to the entire force.

It is ALWAYS wrong... except when they chose not to charge me! :D

I wish it were ONLY the cops who are corrupt

Most of their bosses too, and their bosses, and their bosses, etc.

Good point
US used to have a President, who did lie quite a bit
A President should set the right example

The problem of lying should be rooted out, starting from the top
But they will never do that...all cover for each other

Hmmm. I don't agree with some but yes to CEO and media "stars".

1. CEO
2. Lawyer
3. Media (Television/Radio)
4. Salesperson
5. Surgeon
6. Journalist
7. Police officer
8. Clergy person
9. Chef
10. Civil servant
Remember that it was about the field merely
attracting psychopaths....not that people in
the field actually are.

In Kansas, every cop is corrupt. This is because
they're all trained to do the "Kansas 2 Step" (the
term used by cops there). It involves a traffic stop
for something minor, eg, going several mph over
the speed limit.
The 2nd step is to extend the stop by claiming
suspicion of of some other crime, & searching
the vehicle. This is blatantly unconstitutional,
yet universal & intentional in Kansas.
This practice is used over 90% of the time on
out of state drivers, who are specifically targeted.

Note that 1 cop had the qualified immunity veil
pierced. But another cop retained immunity because
he had no duty to intervene when the other cop
violated the civilian's rights.

This OH department has no good cops.
They don't know the law.
They don't de-escalate.
They delete evidence.

Wow!

This thread could mean something if only there was something called...actual research and available evidence.

Wow!

Wouldn't that be something?

edit: Oh wait. We have a couple of youtube videos. Now I'm ****ing convinced.
There are news articles for those who
want to verify what's in the videos.
One can search on one's own.
But I've linked some in various posts.

The point here is that entire departments
are corrupt, eg, policies, cover-ups. And
it extends to prosecutors & judges at times.

That's not a supporting argument!

Doesn't matter,

Or just...you know...no matter how pissed I get...it happens...I can't get mad any more...good night!

Another example of every cop who shows up
being corrupt, eg, trying to cover up evidence
of their actions, illegal stops, abusive strip
searches, & robbery.
It cannot be random chance that a few crooked
cops happen to be together. It indicates that an
entire department conspires to operate illegally.
This is confirmed by no action taken against
repeat offenders.

Also interesting is the feminist aspect of the
abuse, especially the strip search of the woman.
Now women get to be violent criminal thugs too.

This one is going to be spendy for the taxpayers.
Alas, the cops & their union won't pay.

In this video, the lawyer for a couple victims of
illegal beatings by cops illustrates not only
corruption by a police department, but also
the mayor of this WV town ordering cops
to beat people up.
What happens to cops who beat & injure people
illegally? No jail time. Just loss of job.
With punishment so light, tis no wonder that cops
continue to disobey the law. Note also that even
a jury approved of illegal beatings, so there's a
dysfunctional law-&-order attitude of the public
that must be changed.

By that definition I guess so, but only on a very similar proportion as people in general (which is, after all, what police officers are). Most people break the law and ignore other people breaking the law all the time. It just generally doesn't get shown in YouTube videos.
