I'm not worried of getting it as I live in Britain but it's no secret I've been planning to go to South Korea and Japan for quite some time now- those two destinations are popular with Chinese tourists.

That being said, the likelihood of dying from it is 1 in 30 IF YOU GET IT

Live test, gathering data for viral warfare, using a relatively safe virus ?
And I bet it stopped the Hong Kong protests.

I am not so sure. The Chinese seem to be quite worried about it. Also pneumonia is not a contagious disease. It is a disease that is due to a failure of the immune system. Or at least it seems that way to me.

Pneumonia can be viral, rickettsia or bacterial as examples. Influenza pneumonia is very contagious and can be deadly.

From my understanding it's no better or worse than a flu virus. I think the risk involves people who have immunity deficiency or elderly unable to handle something like that.

We have to worry. Chinese tourists, returning businesspeople and students studying in China. We do not have the kind of disease management as the developed nations have. A few people are in quarantine.
Thank Allah for that. Still some hope.

Pneumonia from the flu virus kills healthy young adults. The very young or old and anyone with an immunity deficiency are more susceptible but there are yearly cases of healthy individuals dying from the flu.

It is a rather nasty type of flu virus. Last I heard 54 were dead in China from it. And it is not widespread yet. That is more than big worrisome.

Its genome will be sequenced soon, and a vaccine produced. That may take six months. But thousands will probably die. A lot will depend on how effectively individual countries manage it. There is a ‘weakest link in the chain’ aspect to it in that sense.

A sensible attitude understanding real risks is in order. I saw this a while ago which echoes my attitude.

Except that we do not yet know how contagious this particular strain is yet. When one gets it the odds of death appear to be much higher than a traditional flu. If it is highly contagious then it could dwarf influenza b in deaths.

At this time I am not worried about it.
However, I keep as up to date as possible.

Hopefully it peters out. But again, less than two miles away from me there is a man in a plastic bubble.

Probably nothing, but it is rather amazing to me that the first case in the US would be so close.
