    I love crickets.

They're cute, the make a beautiful soothing sound, and if prepared properly they can be very tasty.

I became interested and wanted to know something about the rules but I could never find a good web site that explained the basics of the game.

I'm not much of a sports fan, but I do appreciate the cricket from time to time. I'm an Australian.

Yes - to the uninitiated it can seem a strange game! Helps to grow up with it and possibly playing it in the backyard.

I had a little look myself and only found a bit of humour -

Cricket Explained to a Foreigner - Futility Closet

Then just a basic search for "rules of cricket" -

    Cricket Rules - Cricket Rules

    Hope that is helpful?

After looking at the second reference where I found this:
In test cricket there is no limit to the innings length. Whereas in one day cricket & Twenty20 cricket there are a certain amount of overs per innings. The only limits in test cricket is a 5 day length.

I think the first site is easier to understand.

Test cricket is unique - where else can you play a sport for 5 days and end up with no result!
