Hello! Interesting site you have here. As an introduction I'm a middle aged father of 3 raised in the Baptist church (christian school, the works). I find myself a skeptic well on the path to becoming an athiest. So I have a few questions.

How do christians reconcile the old testement command to slaughter dozens of cities, men, women and children, with the new testement ideals of love? Has God had some fundimental change of heart? Just became a nice guy in recent years?

    Hi Underhill,

And welcome to the forum !

You might like to check out our article with links for our newer members!

Have a great time here, and I look forward to seeing you around.
I don't ; I am afraid I am one of those dreadful Christians who thinks the O.T is a badly written and embellished history book. Christianity, to me, starts with Christ's teachings.

Welcome to the forums! You should start individual threads about those questions. People will be hesitant to turn your introductory thread into a debate.

This Christian doesn't try to justify it. That's the quick answer. Welcome to the forum. :)

    Does the badly written and embellished history book known as the OT include: Genesis: 3:15, Genesis 12:3, Genesis 17:9, Genesis 21:12, 2 Samual 7:12-13, Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 53, Jeremiah 23:5, Micah 5:2, Psalm 2:7, Proverbs 30:4, Duet. 18:15, Isaiah 61:1-2, Isaiah 35:5-6, Psalms 110:4, Zechariah 9:9, Malachi 3:1, Daniel 9:24-26, Isaiah 40:3-5, Psalms 22:16, Exodus 12:46, Number 9:12, Psalm 34:20, Psalm 16:10, Isaiah 63:3, Psalm 2:1-2, Isaiah 50:6, Psalm 69:21, Isaiah 11:10, Isaiah 42:1???

I find it very ironic, you use these same badly written and embellished verses as proof that Jesus is something he most certainly isn't.

You say Christianity starts with Christs teachings, but in order to prove he is who he you think he was, you use the OT verses, then spit on the entire thing calling it badly written and embellished.

Hey, all, please remember that this is not the debate section. Robtex was kind enough to create a new thread for that. :)

"Underhill", eh? *narrows eyes and points to her 'title' * This particular Hobbit finds that name very suspicious!

    Namaste, if it pleases you!
