An interfaith discussion on New Zealand. What is the answer?

Yeah, on some sites I sometimes visit it is actually considers an insult to call someone a "Muslim" (as in "you Muslim"), also other kinds of cute names like "Mudslides".

Uninformed hatred towards Islam is on the rise, I sometimes interact with people of the sort and they're completely clueless about anything. All they have is an agenda and they cover their ears with and scream obscenities when their positions are challenged (and of course, give billions of downvotes because of their very fragile emotional positions).

No one should be living in fear due to their religious choices, or if they have none at all. I think people should freely, and respectfully exchange ideas, in a peaceful way only. What are your thoughts?

I think there IS a lot of racial prejudice involved, when it's highly possible that one of your best workmates could be a Muslim but you don't realize it (y'know, converts that live in your community.)
White, Black, whatever, most people aren't as obvious and most aren't 'in your face' about their religion. Heck, you probably wouldn't know I was a Muslim in real life except for if you brought up Islam.....then you'd know :D or if you caught me out the back of the shop at work during prayer time.....

But yeah, so many prejudice and racial memes (like "they're all inbreeders", "they're goat f*rs"). For me, it's really a case of Poe's Law, the stuff I commonly come across day to day is beyond mere absurdity.

As a Muslim, what would I call myself then?

The answer is not hate or acts of terror. No one should be living in fear due to their religious choices, or if they have none at all. I think people should freely, and respectfully exchange ideas, in a peaceful way only. What are your thoughts?

This is an interesting part of the exchange - as I mentioned in another post on a similar topic - I and others like me - do wear our religious identity on our metaphorical sleeve

It has led to some interesting situations - some unfortunate - some due to misdirected hate but hate nonetheless and some surprisingly redeeming interactions with people
