Good morning, Egroen, and welcome to the Interview Place where we interview RF Members.

Hello, Viewers! Today we have with us the most corrupt voter of the State of Michigan, USA: Egroen. It is scandalously well known that Egroen would, if offered, sell her vote to the first politician or political lackey who offered her a million dollars US. What makes this extraordinarily corrupt citizen of Michigan tick? That's what we'll be finding out today! So, on with the questions!

What attracted a corrupt political operative like you to come here to RF?

Do you live in Lower Michigan or Upper Michigan, and why is your state the only one to be divided by a huge body of lake water? Are there historical reasons for it that you can tell us about?

Do you prefer hot or cold cereal in the morning, and which kind of cereal do you eat most often for health reasons?

Are badgers our friends?

Would you describe what is covering the floors in the room you're in at the moment, and did the covering, whether wood or carpet or some other material, come with the house, or was it the result of a decision on your part?

What are your two favorite sciences, and why are they your favorites?

What are the three most pressing problems your nation faces today, and why are they significant?

Can it reasonably be said of you that you expected too much in your first marriage, which was to your horse?

Are you one of those people who selects her clothing as a means of expressing herself, or do you subscribe solely to the throw it on if it more or less fits school of thought?

Are there any religions you pointedly ignore? What about branches of religions, apart from the Presbyterians, of course?

How weird is it that oxytocin causes contractions during both labor and orgasm?

Is there an adequate supply of oxytocin in Michigan these days?

Will the world ever unite into a one world government, and if it did, how would that be a good thing? How would it be a bad thing?

Please name three RFers out of your top five choices that you would most want to share the same cabin with on a railroad journey across Europe?

Is Texas a state or a nation unto itself?

As a child, what was the second most troubling thing you did that you wouldn't mind sharing with a million internet users?

Will the US missile defense shield work? Why or why not?

As a nation, should we be troubled by the color pink?

Do you use a laptop? If so, where do you typically take it?

How many grocery stores do you routinely shop at? If more than one, do you shop around for the lowest prices, or are you changing stores every now and then out of boredom?

Have you ever been hunting or fishing?

How old were you when you decided to have children?

Hello, Viewers! Today we have with us the most corrupt voter of the State of Michigan, USA: Egroen. What makes this extraordinarily corrupt citizen of Michigan tick? That's what we'll be finding out today! So, on with the questions!

Cheers and thanks! Yes, it is true... my vote is for sale. Please PM me your 'incentives' :)

What attracted a corrupt political operative like you to come here to RF?
This is the last forum on the net I have yet to be banned from. :)

Interestingly, I was censored and warned my very first post here. That's ok though, there are too many forums out there loosely moderated where discussions (especially about religion) quickly turn to personal and baseless insults. This seems like a community where differing viewpoints are not only tolerated, but encouraged, as long as everyone is decently respectful.

Do you live in Lower Michigan or Upper Michigan, and why is your state the only one to be divided by a huge body of lake water? Are there historical reasons for it that you can tell us about?
Lower, definitely. We have been trying for years to give the UP to Canada, but they are not biting... we've even been trying to plant hockey pucks up there to raise the value -- no luck yet.

Actually, I often go to the UP for vacations and camping; it is simply gorgeous up there.

Do you prefer hot or cold cereal in the morning, and which kind of cereal do you eat most often for health reasons?
Neither! I am never hungry in the morning but make myself drink a power shake, because supposedly "breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" Balderdash! I say!

Are badgers our friends?
Of course they are! Anything that cute and cuddly could not have an evil bone in its body, except perhaps Tom Cruise.

Would you describe what is covering the floors in the room you're in at the moment, and did the covering, whether wood or carpet or some other material, come with the house, or was it the result of a decision on your part?
I'm currently at work... the tiling was not my idea, but the doggy foot prints were, and they are quite brilliant, if I do say so myself.

What are your two favorite sciences, and why are they your favorites?
Veterinary science because I love animals, have worked with them my entire life and prefer them to people (ok, but most). Beyond that, there would be a lot of "..ologies" tied for second; I would like to pass away being a very well-learned individual, but would settle for "that old windbag who thinks she knows everyhting."

What are the three most pressing problems your nation faces today, and why are they significant?
I am american, the first in my family to be born in the US, but my parents are both still Iranian. I can think of three problems the US faces (in no particular order):

1) I think the US suffers with only a two party system. The GOP has regretably (in my opinion) been hijacked by the republican party, shifting its values and the democratic party can not find its identity. I would love to see at least one more party rise and offer an alternative. Probably will never happen though.

2) Values. I continually shake my head at where values are placed in this culture. Supposedly legitimate news sources can not manage to keep anyone's interest without glamorizing their stories, sensationalism and at least one update on how 'Brangelina' are doing. More people know more of Paris Hilton's latest debauchery or how much weight Britney Spears has gained than what is going on in Iraq, never mind their own local governments. Violence is glorified, yet sex is villified... both leading to an unhealthy fixation.

3) Pistachios. The pistachios in this country are terrible. Those trees in California are barely even a hundred years old and do not come remotely close to matching the size, potency and sweetness of the life-affirming pistachios found in Iran. Those tiny, too-salted nuts passing themselves off as pistachios in the supermarkets are offensive, and mock us all. I have to wait each year for my grandparents to ship pounds and pounds of 'real' pistachios and those barely last a month!

Iran has a simple problem which won't seem to go away:
Fanatical muslims.

Can it reasonably be said of you that you expected too much in your first marriage, which was to your horse?
Since apparently my responses are moderated, I'll reign in a fairly obvious tasteless joke here (reign in, har har har). Sparing you that, I have loved horses all my life and think every little girl grows up wanting a pony and a pair of D's... I've only got the pony so far, and I am lucky my husband enjoys animals as well and tolerates me going off for hours at a time each week to be with our horse.

Are you one of those people who selects her clothing as a means of expressing herself, or do you subscribe solely to the throw it on if it more or less fits school of thought?
Ok, I'm guilty of spending way too much time in front of the mirror and going through about 4-8 outfits each and every morning. I also enjoy torturing my husband by asking what he thinks about each and every one and watching him cringe thinking of the right answer. Women can be very sadistic at times... I'm sure this comes as a big shock to you men out there.

Are there any religions you pointedly ignore? What about branches of religions, apart from the Presbyterians, of course?
I try not to... though I am of course ignorant to a lot that is out there. I would like to rectify that as it has a bearing on the decisions of the majority of people and governments out there.

I do find it intriguing the Episcopals meet for 9 days to argue over their latest political fads. The Presbyterians meet for 7 days to also argue over their latest political fads. The Southern Baptists meet for 2 days. Get the job done, go back to work evangelizing, and build more SBC churches. Could this be why the SBC has doubled in size while the Episcopals and Presbyterians have halved themselves?

Liberal christian churches are losing membership to evangelical and fundamental churches which I believe to be alarming. Anyways....

How weird is it that oxytocin causes contractions during both labor and orgasm?
Amazing, isn't it? Supposedly the contractions during orgasm and birth are just about the same in intensity. Having experienced both... well, I can definitely say I prefer one to the other :)

Is there an adequate supply of oxytocin in Michigan these days?
I am doing my best, but the ozone above Michigan seems to be relatively safe. People tend to be pretty uptight, especially on the west side of the state with all the dutch reformed living out there.

Will the world ever unite into a one world government, and if it did, how would that be a good thing? How would it be a bad thing?
I think we've all read and seen enough bad (and good) science fiction to know this would be a terrible thing. Luckily, I think there's a better chance the US elects a redneck, ex-coke head into office... uhhh, wait a sec.

Please name three RFers out of your top five choices that you would most want to share the same cabin with on a railroad journey across Europe?
I'm slow to judge and have been around for less than a month. I would not be hastey in subjecting anyone to my smelly feet and incessant yappings for an extended tour in close confines.

Is Texas a state or a nation unto itself?
I've been to Texas a few times and think they are best left to themselves.

As a child, what was the second most troubling thing you did that you wouldn't mind sharing with a million internet users?
I tortured Barbie dolls, so much that my parents felt it best to take me in for counceling. Luckily I seem to turned into a relatively well-adjusted, productive member of society, though I still would not trust me around your doll collection.

Will the US missile defense shield work? Why or why not?
I think the greater chance of nuclear invasion would not come from ICBMs, but from a portable nuclear bomb snuck into the borders. At least it sounds cool to have a trillion dollar 'Star Wars' project in the works... the moon better get in line quick, or else!

As a nation, should we be troubled by the color pink?
Men: Do not wear pink. Not in a shirt, not in a tie (even if you are Donald Trump), not in anything; no one buys that it is 'salmon-colored'. You're not fooling anyone.

Do you use a laptop? If so, where do you typically take it?
Yes. Work and all over the house (I love having a wireless connection), though not yet to the loo.

How many grocery stores do you routinely shop at? If more than one, do you shop around for the lowest prices, or are you changing stores every now and then out of boredom?
I try to go to Meijers for the lowest prices, but regularly shop at Whole Foods for organics and Farmer Jacks because it is closer.

Have you ever been hunting or fishing?
Yes, and often. I'm actually a pretty decent shot and can cast a mean lure... and I have proudly eaten everything I have ever had a hand in killing (well, except for bugs *ick*).

How old were you when you decided to have children?
I went 27 years thinking I never wanted children, then at the age of 27 that maternal instinct clicked and... well, I was pregnant a week later. :)

Does it shock you that the bible actually contains a reference to the very same number that amazingly corresponds to your dress size?
I am a little lady, and there are not too many references of 'zero' in the Bible. The closest I can find is: Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power. --1 Samuel 9:1

Hmmmm... Think about it!

Should Michigan voters have the choice to select "none of the above" when they go to the polls?
We do not have very good options. Governor Granholm has chased jobs out of Michigan for years and the new up-and-comer is the founder of Amway. I would gladly vote for Richard Pryor in this case!

What precautions have you personally taken against an invasion of Michigan by the Canadian Army?
We live in fear of this each and every day. You other states owe an awful lot to the Michigan Militia for keeping the wild canadianistas and their feared mounties at bay!

Which two of the seven early warning signs of an RF addiction most alarm your husband?
My labtop often comes to meals and he has learned to nicely pat me on the head when I glowingly tell him, "Honey! I just got frubals!"

Have you ever spiked your computer after posting an excellent response to a thread?
Not yet. Though I have been known to gloat, taunt and trash-talk after hitting the 'Submit Reply' button from time to time. I am a terrible loser, and even worse winner.

What do you think of Rush Limbaugh's out of wedlock use of viagra? And does it indicate he's at heart a flaming liberal?
While I strongly feel someone's personal life is their own business, it does make me smile when someone who devotes so much time judging the personal lives of others is finally offered a whiff of their own shinola.

Do you have pets, and if so, would you introduce them to us?
Lucky: Our new dog (a rescued boxer-american bulldog-boston terrier mutt)
Matilda: Our oldest cat and matriarch
Minerva and Albus: Twin kittens we raised and rescued when they could not have been more than a month old.
Phoenix - Our horse (quarter/arabian), whom I trained and was finally able to purchase a few years ago.

Who was the better writer: The authors of the bible or Shakespear?
I love the King James Bible and think it is beautifully written, but Shakespeare is simply someone to fall in love with. I think the writers of the bible could have used more wit and irony. I also love the old persian poets Rumi and Khayam.

How would you redecorate the Abram's Main Battle Tank to make it a much more intimidating fashion statement to our enemies?
Make them look like american tourists.

Does Victorian sexual morality still bedevil American society and culture?
God yes. Though I love bustiers and corsets.

Do you have any hanging plants in your house, and if so, what kind, and in what room (s) do they hang out?
I manage to kill any plant living in our home... I'm terrible. Though I am growing a little herb garden and they are hanging in there, barely.

What college or university did you attend and what is your degree in?
Kalamazoo College - Double major of economics and english. I am on my way to also getting pre-med in my spare time and may end up getting an MBA... I am all over the place.

Do you work at a large or small animal clinic? And if so, what does your job entail?
I manage three animal clinics, but we are hoping to expand, expand, expand. I kind of do everything from hiring, marketing, writing newsletters, contracting, the books to filling in and squeezing anal glands.

Your favorite species of spider?
None. All manner of insects love to bite me... I do not find it endearing.

What, in your opinion, are three characteristics of a true adult?
1) Responsibility 2) Wisdom and 3) Ability to admit you are wrong.

What's one very good way to build self esteem in your child?
I think you need to get your child out into new situations as much as possible. Don't coddle; let them learn and adapt with their own experiences.

What's your favorite novel to re-read?
Gone With the Wind.

How long before gay marriage becomes a fact in most Western nations?
I would love to see it in the next 25 years. I think it is possible.

Is there much hope that American's will come to understand the world better than they do today, or will we always as a nation be more or less ignorant of places and people's beyond our borders?
Technology has helped... the internet is helping. But most americans' lives are not affected in measurable ways by other cultures and nations, at least from their own individual viewpoint. Hopefully plain and simple curiousity will broaden horizons.

What's your favorite meal?
Ribs!

How did you select your username?
"Erin" was my best friend growing up... "Groen" is simply groan, which I do a lot when I am on the internet.

Cheers!

-Erin
