There's nothing like "I have to pay but Amazon gets away with (legal) murder" to get people angry: Amazon Will Pay a Whopping $0 in Federal Taxes on $11.2 Billion Profits

“a slew of tax loopholes that allow profitable companies to routinely avoid paying federal and state income taxes on almost half of their profits.”
...
Furthermore, New Yorkers made waves after learning about the significant tax cuts Amazon would receive if it built a headquarters in Long Island City.

Do corporations really pay taxes if they are able to pass their cost of taxation to their consumers?

They can't just pass all taxes on to consumers... nof if the company is worried about maximizing profits. Taxes change the equilibrium; some of the cost gets borne by higher prices, but some gets borne by lower profit to the business owners/shareholders.

Absolutely disgusting.

So are the states falling over themselves to offer corporations reduced to eliminated taxes indefinitely.

Well, the politicians are. They get all sorts of bribes and perks to offer tax-free development and usage for decades, while they can tell their constituents about all the great jobs they brought in (whether it's true or not). So they are "all in" when it comes to pleasing the corporate overlords. But when the businesses actually show up, and the community has to bear the tax burden for the huge increase in infrastructure costs, and the added social services needed to supplement their absurdly low wages and lack of benefits, the politicians are off to retire on their ill-gotten gains and the community is left paying the tab, as always.

Corporations must earn profits in order to meet their financial obligations, perform research and development as well as expand their businesses and potentially employ more people. However, whenever government agencies impose higher amounts of taxes on corporations, most companies will try maintaining current profit margins by increasing the price of their goods and services they charge to their consumers.

Anybody in his right mind is reasonable to believe that tax increases imposed on corporations will almost always result in higher pricing for the average consumer to some degree.

Republican capitalist policies benefit the uber wealthy and hurt the middle class. Just another example of crooked policies from the capitalists.

Our nation's rate of poverty has likely been significantly reduced, since the marginal corporate tax rate has been reduced.

There have been fewer food stamp recipients during the first half of 2018 compared to the first half of 2017 ...Reference: Food Stamp Usage Declines for Eight Straight Months | Breitbart , this is a pretty good indicator that the poverty rate for 2018 will even be lower than that of 2017.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the poverty rate declined after Trump took office and promptly deregulated businesses; the poverty rate declined to 12.3 percent at the end of 2017, down from 12.7 percent in 2016.

The commoner American working class folk have greatly benefited from having a globally competitive corporate tax rate that attracts business investment in American rather than elsewhere, the deregulation of business that spurs economic growth, having trade deals that are fair to America i.e.- replacement of NAFTA with the USMCA trade deal, the repeal of the Obamacare tax mandate, having a tough stance against illegal alien criminality, prison reform, the withdrawal of American troops from god forsaken crap holes, and the appointment of conservative judges,

Why should corporations, especially gigantic ones who can buy tax breaks, have a competitive advantage over individual initiative and small business.

Now if you were willing to go along with a VAT or some other form of taxation that treats all businesses the same, I'm willing to listen. But to give them an unfair advantage, no way no how and never.

I actually do favor replacing the current tax system with the Fair Tax.

He didn't mention poverty, he was talking about the middle class. It's great poverty is reducing, but why does the middle class have to be gutted to achieve it in an age of massive bonuses and tax cuts for the upper class?

The middle class always gets the squeeze, while those in poverty get tax payer assistance and the privilege class are well-to-do; this is just the way it's been for quite awhile in America.

Um, yes. And that's what people are complaining about. And why it's so baffling watching people who aren't actually "well to do" fighting so hard against the people trying to represent their middle class interests.

Middle class wages haven't kept up with inflation; this could be in part because illegal immigrants work for lower wages and are driving down wages for middle class American citizens.
