I actually have yet to see many transformations at like 9 months that aren't amazing. Sure, some may look more what the community calls "passable", than others. But the point is looking how you believe you should look.

Good for them? I'm trans and around trans people most of the time so this is all boring to me now. FTM transitions are often even more striking as only thing - testosterone - can turn us into big hairy beasts. It doesn't happen to all of us, of course, but it definitely did with me.

While it can be impressive, not everyone is going to have those kind of results.

I think every transformation should have the disclaimer, "Not every result is typical".

I suppose, but in a lot of cases, people will claim a former man doesn't look like a woman or vice versa, then use flawed results to actually make a case against Hormone Relationship Therapy - showing pictures of a person not on Hormone Replacement Therapy or hasn't been on it enough months to be a full transition.

What do the genes say ?
Ehh, the boffins are looking into it seems.

Written in DNA – study reveals potential biological basis for transgender | Hudson Institute of Medical Research

Given just the variants in the chromosomes alone (xx, xy, xxx, xyx, xxxx) and what can go “awry” in the womb, I think it a little naive to claim it’s a simple case of genetics, epigentics or even just a social construct. It’s probably a wide array of factors in play. But I’m not a scientist, so I dunno.

MTF is pretty hard to do. I don't think there are any surgeries that can manage phalloplasty successfully. Going the other way can do a "fair" job by removing the internal tissues of the penis while retaining the skin, turning it inside, and so forth.

But with clothes on, I've seen a few FTM who I've actually been attracted to. The missing bits would be a concern, I suppose, if I were ever to catch one.

(Dark hint: don't go to any porn site and search "FTM.")

If you have an X and a Y chromosome, you are male no matter how you feel about it or what you cut off or attach.

I can be a somewhat deplorable person sometimes. But I'm not going to make matters worse, myself, by refusing to agree that someone with gender dysphoria, who took the necessary steps and is now happy, is a different gender.

You are weird. Most people "eyeball" this kind of thing and in the rare case they are wrong, trust the person to tell them the correct gender to use. In my opinion, if it looks like a woman, no matter how attractive or not, and says she's a woman, then it's a woman. In doubt, I'll trust the person concerned to enlighten me. I don't ask for lab tests to determine a person's gender.

That's one way to define things. But it has limitations.
We must recognize that gender is more complex than the usual
simple alternatives of XY & XX. There are other genetic variations,
eg, XXY. There are also developmental / environmental complexities.
Does the XX portion make one male, or does the XY portion make one
female? It would be arbitrary to pick one or the other.

Another more functional way to determine gender....
Regardless of genes, if one's brain is female, & one's body is male,
then changing the body to match the brain makes the individual
female. This is to designate gender by phenotype rather than
genotype.
