I am not singling out any specific website. It is becoming in my opinion more than annoying, honestly it can also be a question of ergonomic stress. I mean those aggressive Ads demanding your attention.
Many, many now use their smartphone rather than a computer or laptop to browse the internet. Even though the screen space on a smartphone is becoming larger, here is an issue with these adverts I often find:
* The area on the webpage has small type when viewing from a smartphone browser. Let us say there is one of those active adverts on the bottom of the page, covering about 1/8th of the screen space. Not a big problem... yet. But then I want to zoom in on some text or link, let us say on the upper right side of the page. When I start to zoom in, the advert also starts to zoom in and take over even though it should no longer even be part of the page I wanted to zoom in on. In fact, not only does the advert also start to expand in size and take over the screen, it does so at a much more rapid pace in size growth than the actual text I want to zoom on - in fact it grows to cover more than 1/2 the screen and then covers the very text I was trying to zoom in on to read! I try to move around within the screen and the annoying, now "exploded", advert follows and covers what I want to read. I have to unzoom again instead and then struggle to read the small print.
* No matter how careful I am to select a link on the page but avoid touching the annoying advert, somehow it launches and then the "X" to get out is always obsured, always, always, annoyingly obscured and one slight mistake and you are no longer even on the original webpage at all. And often, you don't even need to click on such an advert at all, simply being on the page for a couple of minutes trying to read something - it could even be some urgent news item - and the advert launches automatically by itself and taking over 80% of the screen, and beyond just annoying but aggravating to no end and totally messes up the read, by the time you get back to the original page you find you are back to the top of the page instead of where you were last when trying to read the article or page!
* I spend way TOO much time navigating around these adverts - not to sound like over exaggerating, but man this navigation and page gymnastics starts to cause ergo issues. Seriously. It is so bad, I do not even go to some of these sites anymore. I wonder if some of these sites even realize that they are, in the end, destroying the "participation" or desire of "viewers" to engage the page at all? I mean, a certain level of ads, if they are stable and stick to "their zone" on the page is ok, but a lot of this is getting totally out of control and actually unhealthy.
