    Good Vs. Evil,
    Truth Vs. Lie,
    are religious terms.
Thus, an atheist has become free from these old traditional ways of thinking.

Atheist: "there are very Good atheists."

So, now we all agree, that there is Absolute Evil and Absolute Good in this world?

    Atheist: "No, we don't."

So, there is no good in atheism.

Atheist: "Maybe try not to equivocate words like good and Absolute Good and try to have an honest dialogue."

I have the God given right to say anything if there are none of the absolutes. But there are absolutes. So, I stay by the "there is no good in atheism."

There are many good atheists. One doesn't need a God to be good.

I'm a theist and I'm free from thinking in opposites. Ethics, morality, etc. are on a continuum, a sliding scale. To think me-good, you-bad is far too simplistic to be realistic. Life simply doesn't work that way, but if it makes you feel proud, go for it.

No, they're not. They're human moral constructs.

In my experience, many religious people have freed themselves from these "old traditional ways of thinking" as well. You know, like those who create threads on a forum attacking people who don't believe as they do...

Also, @questfortruth, putting out another's light doesn't make yours burn any brighter.

Perhaps the problem is not that some individual has not freed him or herself from “old traditional ways” but rather has freed him or herself from the last part of the subject phrase “thinking”. I think the OP has created enough history for other members to make their own determination.

I am curious where you get these ideas about atheists. Do you really think atheists aren’t concerned with things like what truth is, or what lies are?

If this is your simplistic conclusion (based on assumptions I guess) off atheists and morality, I feel sorry for you.

Those are societal terms not religious. People form right and wrong morals by a mariad of sources. Law, upbringing, experiences, instinct, and so forth.

Traditional ways of thinking could be any moral structure depending on say country and culture.

In the US (if you're not here), religion is personal not set by the government so our rights and wrongs stem from multiple sources.

God is a very very very small part of it moralwise.

Atheists might become free from old traditional ways of thinking, however that doesn't indicate an "absence of good."

In fact, by challenging the old traditional ways of thinking, they also called out the abuses, atrocities, and other misbehavior of religion. The more intelligent and thoughtful religious leaders realized that they had to change and rebrand their product - as they no longer had the luxury of being backed by state power with a captive audience.

By separating church and state and allowing people to believe (or not believe) whatever they want, the established religions suddenly realized they had a whole lot of competition to worry about. So, religions realized they had to clean up their act and polish their image.

So, in a sense, the rise of atheism could have been a factor in convincing and compelling religious leaders to become good, whereas before they were evil.

Many, if not most, religions also seem more inclined to accept the truth, such as the scientific truth that the Earth orbits around the Sun, but only because the "heretic" had to show it to them. Before that, the church embraced and propagated a lie and sought to punish anyone who spoke the truth. Atheists wouldn't do anything like that, but the church did it all the time.

Atheistic challenges, secular indifference, and political separation between church and state - all of this and other factors caused more people to see religion for what it truly is. Just as political movements brought about great changes in how people are governed, religion found that it had to catch up - or be left behind in obscurity.

I wouldn't know what that means. I'd just say bad or good, moral or immoral, legal or illegal.

    What's "absolute evil?"
