I hate covering machinery with tarpaulins (aka tarps).
They're heavy, stiff, & really demand 2 people to handle'm.
And the machines need padding to protect tarps from sharp projections.
It all takes much time, & it seldom works out well.
    What to do...what do do?
    Behold !!!!!

I don't want to buy an enclosed trailer.
Aside from the cost....over $20k for a decent one,
they're not forklift friendly. I need side access.
And very few of them have a tilt deck, which I need.
The sidekit would only cost me a few thousand bucks.

What projects & problems are you working on?

I am bridging a creek with a 20-30 foot span using concrete and pine trees. Cars and tractors will drive across it. I may build a log cabin on the other side.

My problem projects are not so physical. They include working with a support guy about why the UI for backup software hangs for over an hour on linux. Working with another guy on getting encoding date added to metadata from a video being transcoded.

My problem is much smaller. I just have to get my trailer through the "TÜV" (and add a box on the drawbar).

I've already bought the strap winches, aluminum bars, set
screws, & FRP plywood. Tarpstop recommend that the first
bow be reduced in height so aerodynamics are kinder to the
front of the tarp. I'm going with 15" instead of 30" there.
It would all be easier if I had the phase converter for my
vertical mill hooked up....oh, well, the band saw will work.

    Rain is my main foe.
But to be free of grime is nice too.

You're not talking about a semi trailer like the one in the video are you? I assume something you can pull with Mr Van or Mr 1 Ton truck?

This is proceeding slowly. I've got access to a tractor, but the trees are proving difficult to get down cleanly. I have 1 installed, one down, and four more planned. The trouble is the trees are so tangled that I've had to bring down others just to make places to fell the trees that I need -- without hitting power lines or buildings. Then I've got to dispose of those trees, too; and it takes time. If a tree falls the wrong way I can find myself in a lot of trouble.

Those work only on "deck over" trailers.
(Unless one fabricates high sides...then forklift
loading from the side is impossible.)
Mine has a low deck with fenders above it.

Also, for tall loads, the manufacturers of that kind
of system recommend against hauling with the
system strapped in the open mode. Sidekits
    are easily completely removable.

    And for construction work.
And a little machinery moving work for money.

BTW, I have a wooden deck cuz they....
    - Are more damage resistant.
    - Are easily repaired.
    - Allow temporary fastening cleats & such.
A little more weight for a much tougher deck.

    That's useful to know.

All that and you still have time for here. You are one of those people that do more in an afternoon than I dream of doing for a whole week.

I do much less than most people.
But I'm greatly dedicated to doing less.
