I doubt it will pass but what does everyone think of the McDaniel Militia act?

This house bill, requires that every Missouri resident between ages 18-35 own or possess an AR-15 type rifle.

That would be cool. Everybody can join the gun club, learn gun safety and responsibility, hold competitive shooting leagues, eat hot dogs and have a good time.

Actually there are a number of places in the US that have compulsory gun ownership without any real problems or issues.

I probably ammend it to where if you're in a town or city or whatever, an option to store your weapon in an Arms Room would be available. You can check it in and out whenever you want to shoot it whether it be a range, competition, or hunting trip.

Whose paying for these guns? And isn't forcing people to carry guns just as anti-freedom as banning them outright? Neither give the private citizen a choice on the matter.

Hopefully the networks will run a Hee-Haw marathon to distract them on election day.

    Kennesaw, Georgia

    Nelson, Georgia

    Nucla, Colorado

    Gun Barrel City, Texas

    Virgin, Utah

Of course mind you, that in the case of Gun Barrel City Texas, it kind of speaks for itself. *Grin*

Being put forward by the same people who freaked out about the concept of a law requiring everyone to buy health insurance, right?

Interesting. Love to see some data about firearm injuries in them, both intentional and accidental.

    That's ridiculous.
    This is over-regulation.
I'd prefer an M1A or Ruger Mini 14.

While I think a law like that is ridiculous, I also think it's refreshing for a gun advocate to drop the pretense that their position has anything to do with freedom.

I wonder if they could pass a similar law for other big ticket manufactured goods? Consider a law mandating every adult must own a hovercraft. Hovercraft sales would skyrocket.

But I don’t think the hovercraft lobby has that much power.

It seems that Mr. McDaniel doesn't actually support his own legislation. He introduced it as a ploy to make some sort of point that's gotten out of hand:

    Big ticket manufacturer...
    An AR15 sells for $500.
They are made by many different companies.
