The Lega wants to abolish ritual slaughter

The images from the festival of of Id al-adha , last August, in Naples were so horrific, that the Lega, the first Nationalist party in my country intends to abolish this barbaric practice.
The state cannot condone that animals dignity is sacrificed in the name of religion.

In what way is it barbaric compared to normal factory animal practice?

Laws about husbandry here impose that the animal must undergo an instant death, through certain practices. In these 2 practices the animal suffers consciously before dying.

It's good to know that the country that still has Bullfights is worried about animal welfare.

But it's perfectly ok to sacrifice animals dignity in the name of gluttony?

For starters, if you really care about animal dignity and suffering, stop eating meat. Otherwise it's just an excuse for protesting about Muslims.

Secondly, yeah, slaughter without stunning is less humane than slaughter with it. Here in the UK, between 80% and 90% of halal slaughter is carried out with prior stunning, making it just as humane as non-halal slaughter. I suppose I would support a ban on slaughter without prior stunning, regardless of what happens after that. But then, I would also support taxing meat out of affordability.

Stunning isn't a solution. The animal is supposed not to be aware of death, so the only way to eliminate its suffering is an instant death (by firearm).

Can we please see a video of ordinary slaughterhouses to enable an objective comparison to be drawn? And can we also please see what discussions the government has had with the Jewish community, to try to find an acceptable means of kosher slaughter, before resorting to banning it? And can we also please see what the government has tried to learn from other countries where this issue has been tackled in cooperation with the religious communities involved?

Or can we safely assume that none of the above has been done by this lazy and intolerant government, and that this is being used as yet another Nazi technique to demonise religious minorities?

Animal welfare agencies, which enforce rules regarding humane slaughter (somewhat of an oxymoron, IMO) all agree that prior stunning is the key factor. That means that the animal is instantly rendered unconscious and therefore unaware of its slaughter, whether that is by having the throat cut, being gassed, being shot, etc.

The only way to eliminate its suffering is through not having it slaughtered for the sake of momentary human pleasure.

Selective outrage is laughable and prejudiced, and this thread is no exception.

I don't know cutting the juggler seems rather humane and fairly quick. Animal just faints and dies and then it's sectioned.

But Muslims are supposed to recite 'Bismillah' while doing it. That makes it funny (for those who are not Muslims).
"The head of an animal that is slaughtered using halal methods is aligned with the quiblah. In addition to the direction, permitted animals should be slaughtered upon utterance of the Islamic prayer Bismillah "in the name of God".

Prominent labelling and signage must be a legal requirement so that the customer at least has the option of using their moral compass.

Schoolchildren, for instance, should not be forced to eat Halal/Kosher meat because of the wishes of religious minorities. As the UK Labour Party keeps telling us “For the many, Not the few”.
