So its more of "legacy"/spinoff Bond movie in certain sense.

It’s interesting that Supes himself has a female counterpart in Supergirl. Since like the 50s. This is hardly anything new.
Companies want to broaden their demographics (and thereby increase their potential profit margins.)
Legacy characters are actually a long-standing tradition in entertainment, due to being fairly low risk, with already inbuilt longtime audiences.
Entertainment has been “going woke” since our grandparents’ era lol

So whats wrong with women? There have been several female "spies" far more real than a movie and several female head's of intelligence departments. Remembered James Bond is a British character, hell we have even had a female PM.

The chauvinism of the 60s has long gone. Get with the world

So it's just for the next movie? I don't like Craig's Bond movies and can't wait for them to replace him (helpfully with Idris Elba), so this is easily avoided by me - I'm just not going to watch it like I didn't watch the last Bond movie.

    Spot on.

I'll also add that criticising this decision is clearly a violation of the film-maker's free speech. Remember, free speech means that you can never complain about anything anyone says or does.

Also you'd better make sure you watch the film. Wouldn't want to engage in cancel culture now would we?

I'm sad for you that someone is making you watch it against your will. :(

And 007 is the agent number. She's not playing James Bond. Even the title say she's the new 007, not the new James Bond.

And although many have played James Bond, for me, the only actor that has nailed the character and is the character is Sean Connery.

This story is wrong, as usual.

The rumour (only a rumour so far as I can see) is that Bond comes back from retirement to find that his 007 code number has been reallocated to a woman.

    That's all.

But I do agree that giving it to a black woman does look a bit like rather clunky identity politics virtue signalling, by the film makers.

    Why restrict yourself to three?

Getting worked up over something you like changing to cater to a younger crowd? Seems perfectly logical to me.

    They ruined Ghostbusters.
    Now they're after James Bond.
    Next we'll have.....
    Superfly: Kristen Bell as Priest.
    Purple Rain: Madonna as Prince.
Raiders Of The Lost Ark: Rebel Wilson as Indiana Jones.
Star Wars: Titus Burgess as Prince Leia.

    It is indeed bad.
    You should be very ashamed.
I am for just imagining them.

Actually, I think Titus Burgess could pull it off.

I had to look up Titus Burgess and him being a gay black man gives me great mental images of him as Leia. Lol.
