A fabulous Deepawali in Ayodhya and a lack-lustre one in Delhi

Ayodhya had a fabulous deepawali with 350,000 earthern lamps (diyas) lighted on the banks of River Sarayu (a world record :)) with much other fanfare and promises of a proper Rama temple very soon. The old name of the City, Faizabad has been officially changed to Ayodhya.

But in Delhi, we had a lack-lustre diwali with Supreme Court banning of sale and lighting of polluting crackers. So, we restricted ourselves to lighting. However, in spite of this, the pollution level rose today (it is basically because of burning of crop stubble in Pakistani and Indian Punjab and Haryana state. We have yet to find a solution for that) . Diwali was celebrated with the usual enthusiasm in other parts of the country.

Now, we are getting ready for the Chath festival dedicated to the Sun God (big occasion in our Central Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand).
