Polygamy itself doesn't bother me, but the involvement of children and forced marriages does.

Exactly. I somehow suspect though that issues will be all muddied together as per usual.
This is not an issue of polygamy, but one of the slavery of children and women.
It is an issue of total rape of personage.

What bothers me in addition to the child molesting is that they drag the good LDS name through the mud because most people don't know the difference.

Yes. And that is the other "label" that's going to be unfarly dragged through the mud in all of this.

In addition to all of the bad things you all have mentioned, young men are victims as well. The elders in the community will often kick out the young men because they are seen as competition since the older men want younger and more numerous wives. They are kicked out with nothing - no education and very little knowledge of society outside of the compound. For anyone who is interested, here is a link to an organization that helps the "Lost Boys" and "Child Brides" of polygamist sects:

You would think that if God intended men to have three or four wives He would have designed us more intelligently, ie: to average three or four female births for every male. The present 1:1 ratio can't help but create a huge pool of "surplus" males.

Agreed. The same exact problems exist in monogamous marriages. It's a problem with what is believed in that group.

They were born to all the old men and 15 year old girls.

    In the compound.

They are related to us. They were originally part of our church but they broke away after our church regected polygamy.

How can you even say that Sola'lor?
In what capacity are these evil people related to you or your church?
I certainly see no resemblance past the 3 letters LDS.
Are you any more related to (the church of) LSD?

I would personally reject the entire notion that these sick male child abusers
have ANYTHING at all whatsoever to do with you or your faith.

Because in ACTuality... what do they have to do with you?

    Know what I mean?

I was speaking of the historical lineage. They are infact a branch off of our church. To deny that would be to deny history. But if you are speaking about what they have to do with us, then my answer would be different.

    The key word being OFF.

    They are no branch.
They are a dead limb lying somewhere in the wilderness.
    A twig without a tree.
    An anathema.

I would be emphatic about this,
    were I an LDS.

But I won't tell you how to handle your own PR.

I would agree with you but I was speaking literally rather than figuratively. Their believes originated from the same source, historically. But if your are speaking of the validity of their beliefs, in realation to ours, then I would say they broke off and fell away. Their beliefs are a corruption of what they should believe.

I'm all for adults choosing to have multiple wives but I do not believe children should be married off. Eighteen and up, do what you want. Children, no.

Yes, but in this case the wives don't really have a choice in the matter, whether 18 or not.

And yes, there do seem to be a lot of crazies that have flocked to Texas in the past LOL! I guess there is a lot of land here where they can hide out.

Good to know that one of the teenage girl that was married to the 50 plus year old man who bore his child got some sence in her. Calling out for help and putting an end to that ranch. The ranch was made out to be like a chicken coop. The women laid the eggs. Sorry to put it in those terms.

I do not consider the FLDS Mormon in any degree. While they are a splinter group from the LDS Church, they are no more Mormon, than a Lutheran is Catholic. They are a breakaway group, closed, and IMO very troubled.

Polygamy is against the law in all states that I know of. These people are in violation of the law and therefore are subject to its enforcement. A similar raid happened in Short Creek, AZ present day Colorado City and adjacent Hildale, UT in 1951. It went down with many similarities.

UT and AZ authorities moved in and carted off children, women, and men. Some claim it was necessary others a boondoggle of problems. There are no winners in this FLDS communities and those that are charged with protection of the welfare of children and the abused.

    We should pray for them.

As an active LDS Church member I hope all will pray for all involved, especially the children. I also pray that the law will be executed according to the laws of the land in justice and equity IF any abuse has taken place against any children or others involved.
