Why do people insist on communicating exclusively with punctuation?

It's their way of letting you know that what they're saying is more important than what anybody else in the thread has said so far.
People might be in mourning at the end of the Apostrophe Society and a satirical comment on the slow death of the English language. Or as people on the internet may put it:
I THOUGHT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO USE ALL CAPS FOR THAT!!!

Punctuation can be very telling, for example, more then 3 exclamation marks is the sign on a deranged mind!!!!!!
