What makes your life worth living. What gives you pleasure.

For me it is family, love of my husband (and love returned).

The birth of my children, the greatest gift my husband has ever given me.

Love for those children and their often hilarious antics. Watching them grow and mature in awe and wonderment at their existence.

I have a strong appreciation of the natural beauty that surrounds me, the forests, the rivers, ancient villages and hamlets. Long rambling walks letting nature wash through me.

In complete contradiction I adore testing myself in a fast car, driven to its limit on a track.

Good food and great strong coffee.

Art, in general warms me, painting and sculpture of the masters past and present. Or natural art, a mountain at sunrise, a tree in autumn (fall), the fluid curves and play of muscle of the human body.

I appreciate reading a good book and will be forever grateful to the ophthalmologist who made it possible.

There are of course other pleasures i appreciate such as being alive after months of slow poisoning following a botched operation. Or escaping from and coming to terms with from some of the more horrific periods of my past life.

So how about you, what do you appreciate in life?

Wow. Almost too many things to go into, but your list is wonderful.

The love of my spouse and respect of my friends.

The tremendous amount of high quality information so I can learn more.

The ability to communicate my knowledge to others: I love teaching.

    Going for walks/hikes.

Figuring out I am allergic to wheat, so my skin is now less itchy.

    Sex.

    The wonderful discussions of RF.

The beauty of the stars on a clear night.

    The ability to understand math.

    My cat.

That I live in a time with the meds I need to survive.

    Classical music.

    Art galleries.

    Museums in general.

    Sunsets.

That I can keep doing this for a *long* time.

    I love my wife.
And I appreciate that I finally have gotten the correct diagnosis.
I am a high-function autistic human, an Aspie.
As a nerd I love skepticism.
    That is the short version.

Reminds me of a line from a song I wrote a few years back:

"The other night I lay awake
    Wonderin' what it would take
To make my life feel complete.
Then I realized friends and family
Were the most important things to me
I closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

Thinking about good times...dreaming about good times...

    Where to start...

Family, wife, children and grandchildren - even my 90-year old parents are still alive
    Friends, colleagues and acquaintances.
People and the interaction with them makes life worth living.

We have a dog, a lab/collie cross, 8-years old and barmy; but great fun. Looks remarkably like Eddi's dog in #2

Music - I have dubious tastes - The Fall, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Beefheart, Kraftwerk, Throwing Muses, PJ Harvey ... I could go on, suffice to say I have in excess of 1000 CDs

Books - popular science & maths books; crime novels - I love Val McDermid, half-way through her latest "How the Dead Speak"

My anorak side is satisfied by trains and railways; I love train trips, have the best part of 500 books on railways - any excuse, I go by train or visit a heritage railway.

I love the country, used to go fishing in remote places, but recently it is mainly walking our dog.
I enjoy photography, not very good but try hard and take lots of pictures with a real camera.

I enjoy food, a nice restaurant is a delight.
Drink - has to be real ales, I really like golden ales.

my friendships are the greatest gift.

no matter the relationship; if it isn't friendly, you should knock it off like the dirt from a shoe.

On another thread I appreciated that we're not at war with Iran.
    But there's more!
My driveway is completely clear of snow.
And the latest episodes of Mike Tyson Mysteries have been great.

A sense of purpose to my life.

    Practicing gratitude and thankfulness.

Feeling the divine a bit more from time to time.

The joy that comes when I can help someone.

    My wife of 50+ years.

    The company of friends.

    The ability to laugh.

    A great night's sleep.

    A hot shower.

    And of course:

Good list, can i ask why you put your faith before the physical pleasures if life. It's something i cannot get a handle on.

I see your dog looks after its toys very well. We had a border collie that destroyed her toys for fun.

    Childs play.

The trick is to have fresh coffee that strong, not 3 week old stewed stuff.
