“How can we resist the temptation to look at pornograph ?

How are you defining "consent"? Is a broke person having to resort to sex work to pay the bills really "consenting"? Is agreeing to shoot porn but then the producer changes what they want from you on the set and, say, bringing in a couple of big guys to DP you or making you do anal, and if you don't do it you don't get paid, really "consent"?

I think this needs to be clearly defined.
As for economic conditions, I don't blame porn but the society that shoves people into taking what they can get, and often times that is porn. This is a travesty, and an attack on a society that produces horrible inequality.
There are also other sources of blame, such as Harry Benjamin, the standard of the "standards of care" when it comes to transsexuals, who insist prostitution is a good profession for MTF because it enforces the femininity of the MTF transsexual.

You didn't answer my question on consent and you also ignored my second example.

Where did doctors who treat transsexuals say that prostitution is a good line of work for trans women?

Now let's see if they'll be ignored again.

That's cause I haven't been on in a while. ;)

I understand and agree that the industrialization of porn for commercial exploitation leaves porn kind of vapid (sometimes), but like any other form of overly-commercial product, people can still get something out of it, even if it is just fantasy. Will it cause issues with body image and unrealistic sexual expectations? Sure. So doesn't McDonalds.

But as I said in a previous post, the internet--while being a boon for the porn industry--has also spurred an interest in homemade, amateur porn which is generally more realistic. Not all porn is industrialized.

What we see with industrialized porn is also a normal biological reaction for a species that can manipulate its environment to create supernormal stimuli for our fixed action patterns. We react positively to strong nests, so we create giant skyscrapers. We react positively to fats and salts, and we get fast food. We react positively to breasts and youthful features, we can plastic surgery.

Now that's not saying all those things are necessarily healthy, but it is understandable why we get off on this stuff.

And avoiding all porn because of the porn industry is like avoiding food because of the fast food industry.

Consent is just that. A person consents to being in porn, and consents to what is going on.
As for doctors and transsexuals, it was Harry Benjamin. His name is strongly attached to the standards of care (the founder if I recall correctly), and he said prostitution is good for the MTF because it reinforces her femininity.

If you read the posts I made, I addressed those points.

Would you also say that there needs to an equal balance of power between the subjects involved (actors/actresses, producers, directors) and a minimum of pressure involved?

I know who Harry Benjamin was and I know the SoC. But can you provide a link to the prostitution thing?

Three helpful steps are (1)*Quickly averting our view if we are exposed to erotic imagery. (2)*Guarding our thoughts by focusing on positive things and praying to God. (3)*Guarding our step by avoiding films or Web sites that contain pornography.

Downgrade to a 56K dial-up modem. One hour of trying to wait 2 minutes per picture to render and you'll be back to reading 50 Shades of Grey in no time.

And so can porn.

People have lost their jobs over porn? Lets take into fact that the vast majority of people watch porn and this is why Xvideos and Xhamster appear on the top 100 Alexa rank.

By this logic the murder rate should increase like crazy and society should be in mass panic. I am not sure if you are joking or have become the joke with such statements. Equating porn with heroin is beyond mind boggling.

Xhamster is also user-submitted, with a lot of it homemade or amateur.

(Or at least, those are the ones I look at.)

Yes and more. People have lost their marriages and families over porn.

And also your little meow schtick isn't cute and it is getting old really fast.

Heroin causes damage whether you like it or not, years of porn can do nothing to most people but drug abuse(specifically heroin) causes loss of brain cells.

If you do not like my meows then why on earth am I debating with a person of no character?

And porn harms a person's libido and their interpersonal relationships.

I have shown how porn can harm people, so stop pretending that it can't.

No, it's fine. It's just that I already talked about those things. So I don't have much to add to your post that I haven't already said.

Ah! Okay. From what I'm reading, I think we are in agreement that the porn industry is shallow and sometimes downright dangerous.

But couldn't consumers interested in porn change that (and as I mentioned before, have started to)? I mean, if there was an open effort to give safe, employee-friendly porn companies more attention, perhaps consumer advocacy could be a powerful tool in making the porn industry safer.
