Since Jesus only specified to observe his Day of Death (Nisan 14) on the Jewish calendar. He mentions No resurrection day. - Luke 22:19
Because of using the Jewish calendar as the full moon would be in Jerusalem thus Passover's anniversary would be here on Tuesday April 4th after Sunset.
Easter...
Passover is a Jewish festival that remembers the Exodus from Egypt. Easter is a Christian holy day that celebrates the resurrection. Christianity stopped being a Jewish sect 2000 years ago, so you have no need to keep the Passover. And I see no reason why the Christian Church can't come up...
I'm fully aware of the origins of Pentecost, and it was, of course, this festival (Shavuot) that was being celebrated in Acts 2.
What you appear to be missing is the fulfilment of the law. In Christ, each festival is overlaid with its eternal meaning. No longer is Pentecost to be seen only as...
The feast of Weeks comes after 50 days, starting after the Sabbath, following the waving of the sheaths (Passover)(14th of Nissan), and the sacrificing of the "lamb without defect". (Leviticus 23:12). Your Gentile Pentecost comes 50 days after Easter, the feast of Astarte, the pagan queen of...
Sorry I took so long in getting back here - keeping you in eager anticipation :D. I had to do a bit of research, but didn't have as much time since more importantly, this week is the week of the memorial of Christ death, where JWs faithfully and excitedly commemorate his death on Nisan 14, which...
I understrand that this is how it is today. But it appears it has not always been so. Leviticus23:5-6 In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, in the afternoon, [you shall sacrifice] the Passover offering to the Lord. And on the fifteenth day of that month is the Festival of...
So Pesach is on the 15 but not on the 14? How do we reconcile this with Leviticus23:5 In the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, in the afternoon, [you shall sacrifice] the Passover offering to the Lord. I'm not trying to pick at you. I'm just trying to learn the facts.
I am not incorrect. In Matthew Mark and Luke, the Last supper is a passover seder, which puts the crucifixion on Passover. In John, it quite specifically states that Jesus was put to death on the "day of preparation" -- the day before Passover when the lambs are sacrificed.
Matthew 26:17 On...
@IndigoChild5559 you say the scriptures are not harmonious.
4. The Bible is not one book, but a collection of books by many different authors, who don't always agree with each other. For example, Matthew Mark and Luke have Jesus crucified on Passover (the Last Supper being a Passover Seder)...
That's not how it really works, since anyone who is an observant Jew well knows that the "preparation day" precedes the first day of Pesach. Thus, John's account is far more likely than what's found in the synoptic gospels. And supporting this is that the Sanhedrin met, according to the...
The high holy Sabbath of Passover occurred on 5th day of the week, what the West calls a Thursday, and the burial happened on Wednesday before sunset. 3 days and 3 nights later, "late on the Sabbath", the tomb was empty (KJB Matthew 28:1).
I find the day before the Sabbath came to be termed as preparation as Mark informs us at Mark 15:42.
Jewish preparation day would end at Sundown of what we call today as Friday.
In chronological order, Sabbath would be from evening to evening.
Jesus and those dying with him were on the afternoon...
Hi 74x12, nice to see you again. I have provided some comments below.
I believe many people make a mistake here. Do you know that according to the scriptures there are many different kinds of Sabbaths in the Old Testament scriptures? Also the HEBREW and GREEK words used for Sabbath are...
This is all conjectural reasoning. YOu keep using the word "about." Admit that you don't actually know. It's an estimate. I asked for a verse that said his age when he died. Obviously you couldn't supply one.
I'll start with Daniel 9:24-27. The length of Jesus' ministry and Jesus' death.
Jesus' death took place in the Spring month of Nisan (14th day 3 p.m.)
Jesus' ministry was 3 1/2 years long.
John the Baptist's ministry started in Tiberius' 15th year. That 15th year ran from 28 C.E. to August/...
Jesus, in speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem, and of the world (see vs 2-3), and shows that persons will still be keeping sabbath the 7th day, from then until now, Jews and others:
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand...
John was a lot younger than most of the other disciples, and lived a long time, while many of the others were martyred. John's record of the gospel of Jesus Christ, was written, as most agree, after his exile on Patmos was over, circa AD 90ish, while the others (Matthew, Mark, Luke) were all...
You have obviously done a lot more research than I have. I will not ask about any religious affiliation you may have but it is so refreshing to find someone who does not simply repeat the teachings of the major religions. You would think some of them would want to study this idea and see what...
If we pool all the information from all four Gospels, the overwhelming weight of material would suggest that Jesus ate the Last Supper on the 13th Nisan, in the evening. This actually means the 14th Nisan because the new day starts at sundown. Similarly, although Leviticus23:5 says 'In the...
