The Genealogy of Jesus
Genealogies are not usually among the favorite passages of readers
of the Bible. Sometimes my students complain when I have them
read the genealogies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke. If they think
this is bad, I tell them they should take a class on the Hebrew Bible
and...
The following includes some excerpts from a short book I wrote: (that can be read online for free)

There are a few prophecies the genealogies fulfil (Messiah would be a descendent of Abraham, King David, and governor Zerubbabel and his father Shealtiel)...
That’s conjecture.
If Joseph has already lineage that go back to David, there are no reasons to it would be a tree with his father’s line, so there are no reasons to put him under his father-in-law’s ancestry.
You wouldn’t have Joseph being put under in-law’s genealogy unless Mary’s father has...
Yes, I agree. However, consider that, in fact, Joseph’s linage is from David. In Matthew’s account he is not a true “blood line” because Jesus did not have a biological father. However, his step-father was also from the linage of David. In Luke’s account, Mary’s linage is through Nathan...
Zion is always used as either synonymously with Jerusalem or as an anthropomorphism of the Israelites who lived there.
You do yourself no favors by saying that Isaiah 49:14 is about the Messiah/son of G-d. Cities in Hebrew are feminine nouns and all the verbs there are ...feminine. It's again...
I believe you are wrong. You used the example of Zion. Zion is used throughout scripture as both a person, the Messiah or Son of God [Isaiah 49:14], and as a place of spiritual redemption. When God talks about the earthly city, he usually speaks of Jerusalem.
If what you are arguing is that...
Now now, don't change the verse, it says Bat-shua, not Bat-sheva. We identify the two as one and the same because of the children.
But nothing you stated is presented as stronger evidence in favor of her father being Amiel son of Oved-Edom and not Eliam son of Achitophel.
As usual.
1Chronicles3: 5; and these were the children born to him there: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan and Solomon. These four were by Bathsheba daughter of Ammiel, who in 2 Samuel 11: 3; is also called Eliam. Uriah the husband of Bathsheba, who was the daughter of Ammiel/Eliam, was later to die at the order...
Again, if you want to innovate your personal interpretation, that's nice. Here's some light reading on Chron 13:5
" לא מנאם כסדר תולדותם כי שלמה היה הראשון"
and
"ולא נזכרו אלו הארבעה בנים כסדר תולדותם, שהרי שלמה היה הגדול כי הוא היה הבן הראשון שהיה לבת שבע מדוד אחרי מות הילד וכמו שכתוב וינחם...
1Chronicles3: 5;
ה וְאֵלֶּה נוּלְּדוּ-לוֹ, בִּירוּשָׁלָיִם: שִׁמְעָא וְשׁוֹבָב וְנָתָן וּשְׁלֹמֹה, אַרְבָּעָה, לְבַת-שׁוּעַ, בַּת-עַמִּיאֵל. 5 And these were born unto him (David) in Jerusalem: Shimea, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, four, of Bath-shua the daughter of Ammiel;
I suppose...
2 Samuel 18: 18; “Because Absalom had no son, he built a monument in King’s Valley and named it ‘Absalom’s Monument’ to keep his name alive.”
2 Samuel 14: 27; ‘THERE WAS BORN TO ABSALOM three sons, and one daughter whose name was Tamar; a very beautiful woman.”
This did not mean that Absalom...
So what evidence do you have that Jesus was conceived by parthenogenesis and didn't have a Y chromosome? And if so, is that why Jesus loved a particular disciple instead of a wife?
Luke 1, however, says that Jesus' biological father was probably Heli's son who was coincidently also named...
The linage of Christ can seem to be contradictory. Although Joseph’s linage is from David, Matthew’s account is not a true “blood line” because Jesus did not have a biological father. However, his step-father was also from the linage of David. In Luke’s account, Joseph is identified as the...
You ask me; “How do you explain the following verses:”
"And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said: 'Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?'" (2 Samuel 11:3)
"Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of...
The Giants such as "Og" and even the word Rephaim and things like that were used as epithets calling upon powers of judgment, vengeance, and healing as well:
Names of the Giants in Bible
Adonizedec - King of Jerusalem
Joshua 10:1,3
Agag - King of the Amalakites
Numbers 24:7

(continued):
1 John 5:7-8
1Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
1Jn 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

No as was supposed.
