    Hello

Hey all, I show up from time to time but mostly just to read what others have to say. Lots of things happening so I've been buisy. Best regards to all so that you know I haven't droped off the face of the planet. Peace, Faust

    Proof Against Evolution

I would say that given the billions of possablities for divergence of replication in the human genome, and a couple million years. Yup, the odds are definitely stacked in favor of divergence occuring.

    Proof Against Evolution

Thank you very much. Ryan2065 seems to be making some excellent points.

    Proof Against Evolution

Hi all, Um, I thought this started out as a "proof against evolution" thread. Oh and could someone please refresh my memory as far as how to copy a portion of someone elses post to post as a quote. I haven't done anything but read threads for some time now. Thanks

    I'm on Neil Youngs websight

Hey all, I've been very buisy and only pop in once in awhile but I wanted to tell everybody that I have a song on Neil Youngs websight! It was ranked at #22 for awhile then #35, it's at #211 now. The title is Flag Draped Coffin . My wife said it was at # 11 for awile but I didn't see...

    God as science project

No, I think that teaching ID as a science would lead to applying the scientific method to religion and that would harm religion. Faust.

    God as science project

But thats exactly my point. If you apply the scientific method to religion the inability to prove that a creator exists may do more to harm religion than help it.

    God as science project

Sorry, I mean that religion answers our questions from an emotive,or as some would say, spiritual point of view. Science answers our questions from a rational point of view. They both fill a need for the majority of humans but simply do not mix well. I'm curious as to whether those who think...

    God as science project

Have the proponents of ID thought about the possible consequences of turning a creator or intelligent designer into a science project by teaching it in schools as science? Faust.

    Atheism is just another religion

I'm not as elegant in my presentation as most here, I can only provide simple statements. I would simply say that the "so? you do it too" argument is a weak argument. It doesn't come from a strong position and degrades the position of the person making it. This is not an attack, just an...

    Atheism is just another religion

Hi all, I've been gone for awhile but I guess this is as good a place as any to jump back in. I personally don't see atheism as a religion as much as a belief system. It all comes down to a belief in what. I don't believe in deity so my system varies from those who do. As far as...

    President in 2008

I had two stickers made for my car in 2003. One says "Bush in 04 equals Hillary in 08". The other says "What would John Lennon do ?". I also sport a Darwin fish and a Kerry-Edwards sticker. I live in a very conservative area and have had people try to run me off the road on occasion. I wonder...

    Socialized health care

So in effect, those without insurance are already in a socialized health care system, supported by those who have health insurance, to the benefit of the insurance companies? Faust.

    Socialized health care

I don't know Ceridwen, but as I said, this is what I hear from people in the states, but I seem to be getting slightly different views from members that have socialized systems. Is it possible that we in America have been taught to fear anything categorized as socialist? Faust.

    Socialized health care

I'm having hernia surgery soon, I've put it off now for about 18 years. I had my dog spayed and the vet did surgery for a hernia at the same time and the total bill was under 300 dollars. I asked her if she would do my surgery. It seems to me that american insurance companies are all about...

    Socialized health care

Thank you so much for your replies. I have heard so many stories from people in America about six month waiting lists for serious health problems among other horror stories concerning the evils of socialized medicine that I decided to get some first hand accounts and you have all come through...

    Socialized health care

I'd like to hear from some of our members who have socialized health care. What is your assessment of it? Whats good about it? What are some of its down-falls? Faust.

Is it ok to use bad language?

I believe the key is to monitor your behavior and speech based on the company your in at the time. I mean really, if I'm speaking with my mother I use language appropriate to the situation. If I'm slugging a couple dozen beers with some bikers, well, when in Rome... Your not being a hypocrite...

Is it ok to use bad language?

In ages gone by, To curse or swear meant exactly that. Words were taken much more seriously and therefore carried more weight or power.Somewhere along the line, to swear or curse became associated with the language of the lower classes. It would be interesting to research the linguistic origins...

    Pleasures of Atheism

I truly mean no offense by this but, if one truly has no belief in God/s then belief might be viewed as fantasy. If one lives their life dependant on fantasy, this might be viewed as mental illness. For those of us who started out as theists and through hard work, research, and reason, became...
