My boy came through his surgery great! The milkiness is all gone from his eyes and his eyes are clear again -- although a bit swollen and he's squinting a bit right now. But he's not blind now! Woo-hoo!
They had to shave around his eyes for the surgery. I think it makes him look like Hit Monkey.
I'm not exactly sure how old he is. They think he was about two or three years old when I adopted him from the animal shelter, and I've had him six years now. So I guess that makes him 8 or 9 years old. But he's still very lively, like a puppy. Because he's a small breed, he has a longer...
My little dog is scheduled for cataract surgery (both eyes) on Tuesday morning, March 5th. For those who pray, could you please say a little prayer for him? For those who don't pray, warm thoughts are appreciated. He's my baby, and I'm worried.
Many thanks!
P.S. Anyone inclined to post a...
A couple of points about antisemitism...
First, criticism of Israel's government is not antisemitism. However, conflating all Jews with one's criticism of Israel's government is antisemitism.
Which leads us to the problem of philosemitism, which is the second point I wish to make...
Online, of course, you can easily just choose not to respond.
But in the offline, workaday world, especially when you're serving the public, especially when you work in a public library where sometimes certain books get challenged (and you don't remove books from the library's collection on...
Shmuel Skaist, known professionally as Rav Shmuel, is an American Orthodox rabbi, speaker, and musician from Brooklyn, New York. His song, "Protocols", is his take on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion -- a pamphlet circulated by antisemites claiming that Jews are secretly conspiring to take...
What was "really going on" is now pretty much stopped as of last week, when Chabad officials called in the police and the NYC Department of Buildings filled in the tunnels with concrete. The tunnels had been dug by a minority of self-entitled, fanatical students from Israel (attending a yeshiva...
You now have me picturing myself in a sari.
I have a rabbi (not a rabbit!) friend who once told me that, when scanning headlines of the online news, he mistook the word "bitcoin" for the Hebrew word "bitachon" (which is generally translated as "trust"). He said: "Somehow, I think that...
Thanks everyone! I don't have an acceptance speech or anything like that prepared.
I'll just say that there's a good staff here and I'm happy to assist, as well as serve the community here.
@Secret Chief - LOL -- my hair is already dyed purple. And I don't fart. Ladies discreetly...
Here's a fun thought: What if we're actually hybrids?
Say that Homo sapiens and Pan troglodytes evolved from a common ancestor as science indicates, then what if Homo sapiens later merged with... something otherworldly?
I'd love to read a book (either speculative or totally fictional)...
I'm tagging @McBell and @sun rise for this, as I discovered that what I tried to write to @McBell in response to him on sun rise's profile page was too long for a profile page posting.
Me: I love the picture of the golden retriever in your profile. I'm currently reading a Dean Koontz novel that...
Good point to mention! I'll add that Judaism demands that it be consensual, too (and not causing any harm to a living person who wishes to donate an organ, such as a kidney. I see that @VoidCat has admirably checked it all out, regarding their wish to help someone else in need). Of course...
