    Thoughts on reincarnation?

What's the book? I think Jesus and moksha still works maybe even better than Christianity and reincarnation. For me Jesus as a saviour is more like Krishna as a saviour too being that through devotion and thereby following their teachings one achieves liberation. Lately I have been seeing...

    Thoughts on reincarnation?

I was raised Christian, but for a long time have studied and practiced Indian religions/philosophy. I'm still very fond of the teachings of Jesus and reading the gospels especially around this time of year as I am a westerner and my wife is Christian and we celebrate Christmas. The biggest thing...

How is TM different than Naam Simran, or other mantra meditation?

I have been meditating for the past 15 years, or so. Initially this was mainly breathing and Vipassana through Buddhist studies and meditation at Buddhist temples. More recently I have started to also do Naam Simran and Vedanta meditation techniques. Transcendental meditation is so popular and I...

    Mahabharata?

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked on Amazon and the "modern rendering" 2 volume one gets really great reviews. Maybe going for a non-abridged is a little too ambitious and so this seems like a good place to start!

How common are Sikhs that don't keep the 5 K?

Are people at Gurudwara generally accepting and welcoming of "outsiders" coming in? There are a couple Gurudwaras nearby and I have wanted to go, but have been nervous (and now Covid has put a pause on that, as well).

How common are Sikhs that don't keep the 5 K?

I agree about the reasons Guru Gobind Singh instituted the Khalsa. I've read a couple books on the history of Sikhi and it makes sense, but obviously times have changed.

How common are Sikhs that don't keep the 5 K?

I was raised Christian, but have spent the majority of my life on a spiritual journey and the last 15 years studying mainly Indian philosophy/religion. Most of that time I considered myself a Buddhist, but I started to feel a yearning for the presence of God in my life. For the past few years I...

East meets West on my spiritual path...

The reason I initially turned away from God is because of Christianity. I couldn't accept that Jesus is the only path to "salvation" and also that all you have to do is accept Jesus to obtain salvation. That is one of the many aspects of eastern religions that I love so much. Not only do they...

East meets West on my spiritual path...

Thanks I will definitely look into that.

East meets West on my spiritual path...

Hi everyone, For the past 2.5 decades I have been on a spiritual path with many ups and downs and twists and turns. I think this post is probably more cathartic than asking a question, but would love to get comments and advice if you have them. I've always been very spiritually inclined and...
