As far as outspoken and hardcore theists go...
The general reaction they seem to have when exposed to beliefs which are contradictory to their own.
Especially when said contradictory beliefs are based on well rounded logic.
The rest mostly don't bother me and I show them the same respect.
I wouldn't care if it was taught in alongside the history it's involved with, or as just another literature / fiction piece.
Is that what's going to happen? I'm not nearly naive enough to believe that.
They believe the bible is true and wont be happy until you and your children do too...
I would say the effect on personality development could go several different ways when talking about youths influenced by technology.
In my case, technology opened the doorway to my realism and skeptical nature that I so highly value.
Others might become too reliant and obsessive when it comes...
Wow.
If that's really how your god feels about these issues, consider me anti-(your)god.
Happy to be considered evil by it, Hell, I'll side with the other guy who, so far, seems to be the most ironic 'lesser of two evils' ever.
Being an atheist does not necessarily mean you hold no belief in an afterlife.
That being said, I personally do not have any belief in any sort of afterlife where my consciousness is preserved.
It was kind of scary at first, but I valued my reasoning more than a want for better outcomes...
Many non-believers start out with some form of religious background, some even gave decades of their lives to a religion. I made it until I was 17, then I started to drift off from family tradition.
I still believe I am spiritual on some level, just not necessarily in a sort of...
Only if the offended party wants it to be.
I would personally take it as a criticism or a joke.
It's fairly hilarious in a gruesome immature sort of way, but also points out how modern faith may as well be called "McFaith".
Not a thing for multiple reasons, the main one being freedom of...
I didn't intend to imply that, I merely was referencing all the support and affection he got from the Catholic church.
I agree. He seemed to care about a different kind of big picture, one where religion only mattered halfway.
I would have to agree with you.
Hitler was certainly a celebrity with the Catholics of his time, but by no means was he a representative of the entire church (let alone all of Christianity).
Please rephrase the question, I don't think I quite caught exactly what you wanted to ask about.
I will say that religion should be taught in school, but never preached.
No subject should ever be taboo in a learning/mind-elevating environment.
I myself was an early start, so of course this is something I support.
It keeps down teen pregnancies and the spread of STDs to a younger generation.
This and proper sexual education are quite a good recipe, imo.
Oh, I see what you're saying.
I'm personally a bit primal as a person, so it could be said that I value life in a peculiar way.
I suppose I would kill the fly with my indifference towards it's life. It may succeed in slightly annoying me, but that would be forgotten within five minutes.
Things that have happened in the recent and distant past don't allow me to forgive.
Call it whatever you will, DNA or spirituality, it makes no difference. Bottom lines were crossed.
I don't like being an angry person, or a person who holds on to hate, but sometimes it's the only option I'll choose.
I would say no.
There are certain things I could forgive, but will not.
There are other certain things that I can't forgive, nor should I even if it were possible.
I shared leftover grilled chicken with a wild fox once, it let me pet it only while it was eating but it did lay beside me.
I've also picked up a small raccoon that had injured itself, while out fishing. It liked it's vet more than me.:(
Lastly there was a time I met a seemingly very old timber...
There are those who find motivation from being put down, so I suppose it would work for such a peculiar type of person. Many people who were heavily bullied as kids used that past as motivation and became body builders or MMA fighters, among other things. I see no reason why that couldn't carry...
-- This is just a guess on my part --
I suppose they think that violence being the main undertone of many great cartoons and older movies (especially those with old western cowboys and sheriffs), it would somehow be a great idea to enhance that aspect in pretty much every sense.
That isn't to...
I don't care for any holiday's at all, including birthdays. Just not my thing. I give gifts to loved ones when I find something I think they'll really like, no need for a special day. :)
There's no spiritual or religious meaning behind my unwillingness to participate, just personal preference.
